GIMP is totally, 100% free.
What kind of computer do you have? I'm assuming something running Windows XP?

The first two links on this page are 1) the program (it should either automatically download or be a "double click to download" type install once it's downloaded to your desktop, but I can't test it for you since I'm on a MAC (all hail the wonderous Apple computer :P )) and 2) a FAQ

All of the rest of the links are for people that like to either download from source code instead of prebundled or people that want the developer side of things...which you don't.

I'm having trouble figuring out which GIMP I should download. I'm also wondering if it costs anything. Do you know?

You might be able to use the photoshop, depending on the features, but I wouldn't use paint and certaintly not word.

You could download GIMP at www.gimp.org . It's pretty much like photoshop (true photoshop, not the album starter like you have) but it's free! The learning curve is pretty steep, but it will do just about anything you want to an image and there are lots of good tutorials out there (you can use most photoshop tutorials as well).

Thanks for the complement on my sig, but I didn't make it. Sophie made it for me. But I had to wait forever before anyone made me one, so I thought I'd see if I could make some myself so I wouldn't have to bother anyone. Thanks, though, Ms. Kelly!

You can use just about any image editing software to make a signature to be included in your forum post. Simply take the photo you'd like to work with, add your layers of text and save the file as a JPEG. For example if you name your file, signature then the complete file name of a JPEG image will be signature.jpg (or sometimes signature.jpeg).

If the image in your signature now you created then you look like an image editing wiz as the fade to other photos and the text combination is quite lovely.

how do I make siggys?

I have paint, microsoft word, and adobe photoshop album starter 3.0 . Can I use any of these to make siggys? And then how do I do things like using only a certain part of the pic, using a different background, and putting words on it? Thanks!
