What worries me is that under temperment it says 4; but then a 12yr old can ride her she's quiet etc. That's not consistant in my book. 1,2 maybe 3 in the temperment scale is a kids horse in my book.

The pictures make it hard to tell much about confro other than she's cute (hence why I'd ask for more) and the ad leaves her training and undersaddle temperment a bit ambiguous. Especially the "no bad vices"...to me any vice is a vice, so what does this person consider "bad" and what does this horse do? Just because she "hasn't bucked" doesn't mean she's great to ride.

I'm not going to totally rule her out for you, but proceed with caution.

Re: A couple possibilities to critique...

I really like this mare. I *might* consider asking for more info on the amount of training on the grulla, but that's still an age where there shouldn't be tons and they are still going to really test (in most cases).

I'd be looking for something in the 6,7,8, or older range. That way you can get a horse that has lots of miles and some good training. That doesn't mean you still can't end up improving the horse, so it's not like there is nothing to work on (I know that's important to you), but in general it's much easier to find a safe reliable mount in the 6 and up range.

60 days just is not enough for the majority of horses to be safe, get on and ride horses. They are likely reasonably safe, and should stear and know their leads, but there is still a lot of work to be done and a lot of work easily undone at that stage.

Re: A couple possibilities to critique...

im not to fond on any of those...

Re: A couple possibilities to critique...

I don't like her back end at all, any of it. The rest of her seems ok, but nothing that really strikes me. She may indeed be an ok riding horse, but I think especially for the price (looks like you are looking around 2k) you can get something with a bit nicer conformation, a bit more eye appeal, and most importantly some more specific training/skills.

What do you really want out of a horse right now? In the forseeable future? I know you have a good many things you want to dabble in, but if you had to pick one or two what would they be? Once you decide that then you look for the horse that will do it. Most all horses will dabble in things on the fun level, but if you want to pick something and work at it then you should try to find horses trained there and suitable.

Re: A couple possibilities to critique...

She just doesn't do anything for me.
How about these?

http://equine.com/Horses/ad_details.aspx...0b-b600d596c11a

http://equine.com/Horses/ad_details.aspx...0b-b600d596c11a

http://equine.com/Horses/ad_details.aspx...596c11a&p=2

http://equine.com/Horses/ad_details.aspx...596c11a&p=4

Dont get frustrated and settle. IMO, anything advertized as "needs advanced rider" or even "needs intermediate rider" should be passed up unless you are advanced and looking for a training project...are willing and capable of taking on the issues.
