    Memorial Day Ride

Took the horses to the mountains for the weekend. We are just starting a 3 year old filly under saddle. It's just no big deal to her to have a ridder. She is just glad to be out with the gang and not left home any longer. I rode a 4 year old gelding that is still a handfull after 50 rides. It's hard to believe they came from the same mother.

The grass is up and green in the lower elevatios

The foxtrotters cover these trails in great fashion.

The aspen leaves are just starting to bud out.

The filly is the light colored buckskin. This spring is almost at the top of the mountain. It's the coldest water around.

Up high the snow has not been gone very long. The grass is just starting to peek through

Oh, those pictures take me back! I used to work on dude ranches in Wyoming, around Yellowstone and Teton Nat'l Parks. Where do you live? And I also remember that the best horse I had to ride there was a foxtrotter gelding. Not very pretty, kinda rawboned, but a GREAT ride!

Wow! Would be nice to be able to ride in the mountains like that! I am jealous. I agree, foxtrotters would be as good as it gets in that terrain!

I'm in Northern Utah. Pictures are up at Strawberry.
It's a great area to ride. Dark spruce on the Northern slopes, Vast forest of Aspen. Lots of wild flowers. Lots of Elk, Deer, a few moose and occasional black bear.

Not as steep as the mountains around Jackson.

Beautiful scenery, looks like you had a good time. Like the permasmile in the last pic.
