    Cleaning Silver

I just bought a saddle! YAY! The only problem is the silver is still kinda yucky. I tried NeverDull and Toothpaste (Don't ask mom said it would work!) Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can use to try and shine it up

Is it real silver? If it's silver overlay or sterling silver, use Heggarty's silver polish. It comes in a blue spray can. If you use it, DON'T follow the directions on the can! They say to spray it on the silver directly from the can! They didn't anticipate it being used on a saddle! The overspray would stain the leather.

Instead, spray on a bit of towel, then rub the silver.

You can get it at Schneider's.

Ditto the Hagerty's. It's great on sterling, overlay, and plate silver.

If it's Inca, Mexican, or Alpaca silver (which isn't silver--it's nickel) plain old Brasso will brighten it up. But it won't ever shine.

I've been told a pencil eraser works well on silver.. Have not tried it myself though.. Keep in mind silver is a very soft metal..or alloy or whatever I'm trying to say..

You can also try a silver polishing cloth too. Were I work you can buy for under a dollar of two. Tiff

Tooth past does work quite well but it need to have backing soda in it, if it doesnt find some baking soda and mix it with water to form a kind of paste and use that, usually works really well
