    dressage instructors in Western NY?

I live an hour and 40 minutes south east of Buffalo, NY in Cuba, NY. Map Quest can show you exactly.

I know one very good dressage instructor but am reluctant to call her because she's over bearing and rude and she makes me feel stupid.

Anyone know of others in the area?

    Thank You Pride-in-Paints!!

I don't know if you feel like driving..but here in Orange County, there are dressage barns. I can name 3 of them. Im sure theres more, but i can only think of 3.

    There is trainer/stable/instructor listing here:
    http://www.wnyda.org/
That is the Western NY Dressage Association. Hopefully it has people in your area, and maybe you can watch a few lessons till you find a teaching style you like. I wouldn't want a rude, belittling teacher either.

    Thank you MadMare!!!

HOW COULD SHE POSSIBLY BE A GOOD COACH THEN!!! Confused Confused Confused
I am finding that sometimes you can find a good coach in a very unlikely place.Dressage is not so elusive as some believe. It is more good riding skills and a good partnership with your horse. I rode wide a Grand-Prix rider who was a terrible coach.I learned more dressage from a western coach..Find a coach whom you like, and work with them on sharpening you awarness of your horse sort through tensions and misunderstandings. You will be far happier. There are some very very very bad riders who think they can ride dressage. It is not about side reins and spurs at all.
Sorry I have just gone through the same thing looking for a good coach.I have found the best way to tell if the coach is good is ask your horse. If they become unhappy, and you notice a general change in behavor run away fast. Also be sure to watch a few lessons that they give their students. You can gain a lot, and save yourself a lot of trouble by doing this.Don't get swayed by fancy horses doing high school movments either. Look for smiles and softness in both riders and horse.
Sorry for the rant it is a subject that really gets me going.
    Good luck in your search.
PS My coach is one whom I admire and we have a true friendship. With that we can tackle problems, and come up with solutions. Never ever would I take someone berating me or my horse. That is a person who lacks self control, certainly not someone I would trust my horse's education too.
