Goya De Lully's owners (before he passed away last year) are friends of mine.  Goya was already mature when I met him, but I can tell you that he was always a teddy bear and a gentleman to be around.  His offspring (the ones that I know at least) are very calm and very smart, and they all look just like daddy.

also look at the "Sales" page and you should find a few of his "kids."

WOW! People, just WOW! Peter tried to ride our new mare Lilly today. We did not expected much - due to condition and due to the person we got her from. We were told that nothing has been done to the mare, just basic training. According to seller - just walk, trot, a bit of canter. And a bit of turns on bite. Green with basics, and no, no issues at all, horse to "sleep with".

So first suspicions I got already when I brushed her in field. She does not move. At all.  Stands completely still. Brushed her a good half hour in field - she was just standing and looked happy. Did not move.

Then Peter took saddle. She stood still. In field. No lead, nothing, just standing loose. Put the saddle on. She did not moved an inch, I continued brushing.

Then braidle. Head down, head in, only ... she does not open her teeth instantly. Took a few seconds to convince her to open teeth. Then braidle on. She still does not move and seems happy.

Then Peter mounted her.Sat on her. She still does not move.Stands perfectly still, calm and relaxed. And then peter lightly asked her to move.

Yeah....  right... Green horse, basic training... Yeah... She has been trained for Dressage and had been trained well. Peter was an idiot on her back as he has no slightest idea abot Dressage. He moves a muscle on his body, horse does something different - only thing that I recognised was piruette.

Slightly moved fingers - again, something different. After about 5 minutes Peter went off and said that he will not even ride her as he do not want to mess her up.

Took the saddle off - she still stands. Took the bridle off, she does not move. Took halter, she puts her head straight in. And stands. Then I spent another half hour brushing her. Still in field. She is sooooo sweeeeet! OMG! What a gem in our hands. Yeah, another rescue. Right...

After the ride - she did not mind really that silly sack on her back ;)

I do not have any plans - my head is spinning around. Just talked with her breeder -Gypsy was right! She had been sold as a weanling and was hanging there in pastures all 6 years - nobody had trained her. How amazing that Dressage genes can show out in such a way without any training at !!!

So far I have only plan A - love, care and a bit of lunging along with a lot of nice small meals. To get er back into condition.

Plan B (maybe) - to find a Dressage rider who might be interested training her.  But only after plan A will be completed.

She is truly beautiful. So wonderful that she found someone to love and appreciate her. Is there an over abundance of horses where you are also. There are way to many unwanted horses here due to over breeding and of course the economy is not letting people do as much with there horses as they used to .

Actually not. Horses are just finding us, that's crazy, but all in all this autumn the horse market is going well, Scandinavians are buying a lot.

My rescues so far are more complicated issues as just bad economy.

    Hello!

I am also new to the horse world.  My family and I are in a similar situation with a horse that was basically abandoned and left to his own devices for the first 2 years of his life. Kudos to you for trying to learn everything you can on proper horse care and training! ~ RNT

Re: Completely new to horses - Hi from Latvia!

    Just short update -

I'm madly in love with our stallion Daggy - he is suuuuch a gentleman! I was so worried to adopt a stallion but now...

I will breed for his temperament and rideability! Just one example - our mare Sigma is coming on heat - and by mistake she was put tonight in the opposite box to stallion - our isle is narrow so basically horses can reach each other. Sigma instantly turned her back to Daggy and Daggy of course noticed that. He was sweetly drooling all over her but that was it - we just walked girl out of the box, Daggy gave her a kiss and off she went. And stallion did nothing - just looked after her. I gave him a cuddle and promised fun after few months ( I do not want a winter foal, but Sigma is one that I will breed to him). He is such an angel - not silly stallionish behaviour at all.Incredible boy, he really is.

Lilly is gaining weight very well, maybe even too well ;) , and is working on herself - walking up and down the hill in pastures so she knows what's good for her.Seems like she will recover completely and her stance now is much better.

You can not see her ribs now :)

And she is more stable on her feet

Guddy, our gelding boy was a bit ill - something like a tummy bug for few daus but now is recovering and will be starting trainings again.

    Jumping with Peter

We had a temporary boarder for 2 days - 20 yo Standardbred horse who has heartbraking adoption story

Sheriff with his new owner :)

And we added one more to our herd as well

Gamma is not a real neglect case, her owners were running out of money for the winter - nothing unusual this winter - now she needs go back in shape with some groceries and exercises and will be OK. Sweet and well schooled children/beginner jumping horse, had done at shows 100-120 cm so we do hope put her back in shape for the spring. A bit bowlegged but we hope improve legs with good farrier job - currently her hoofs are a mess and it will take some time to get them back in right shape.

SonoraII now is 6 mo old and as big as our yearling Sapphire so she is officially a baby MOOSE, not a foal :)
