    A Helmet, finally...

Well, I finally convinced Vic to pick out a helmet and to use it!  She wore it riding for the first time the other day and guess what?  She felt more confident and was able to relax and concentrate of riding istead of being afraid she was going to fall again.  Yahoo!

It is an International Riding Helmet (IRH).  Is that a good brand?

We were just browsing at the feed store and that was the only brand they carried.  Vic was interested and willing, so I had to strike while the iron was hot.

Hooray!!!  I am doing a happy dance -- IRH's are very good, so glad her lil' head will be protected now.

International are good helmets.  I was looking at them myself and found one that fit perfectly.  I just didn't have enough cash to get it at the time.

Yay for Vic for wearing a helmet :)

I have this exact one (with the vent in "gunmetal"), and I love it. Strong, durable and very comfortable.

WAY TO GO, VICParty!!!!!!! We're all very proud of you for turning AWAY from the 'darkDevilside' LOL

Cole7, I know, it looks like the perfect helmet. My trouble is just trying to keep on saving up for it!

I actually bought a different one (that I ended up hating) at the Quarter Horse Congress. After going back and forth with exchanging/returning/shipping, I had the difference saved up when all was said and done. Worked out for the best. Now I'm in the process of saving for a rope halter/lead/stick&string from Sunset Halters. Does it never end!?!?!?!?!?! Tongue Tied LOL Why does the Michigan Lottery not like me Crying

Nope, it NEVER ends.....there's always SOMETHING to buy for your horsey!  I want a stick from SH too -- I made my own string at the hardware store, it worked really well and cost about $3.

I've got a Troxel helmet designed for trail riding, and never ride w/o it.  Even put it on when I'm lunging, etc.  You can't be too careful, IMO.

    Good riding,

I'm pretty creative, but I don't think I'd know where to start if I tried to make my own.

Nope, you never can. Sometimes I do too. Better safe than sorry.

I used to have that exact helmet!! (same color and everything!) It fit perfectly, I wore it for almost 3 years (I ride 4-5 horses a day, 5-6 days a week) and finally the padding gave out. I was going over a gymnastic set at 2"9, 3", 3"6 and after the first fence my helmet fell completely over my eyes! I jumped the 2nd two fences completely blindfolded! Put my hair up underneath it? Same thing! I went home and immediately ordered a new helmet. Big Smile Fortunately it was around Christmas-time and I spoiled myself with a GPA!
