Discuss this article: 5 Buying Myths, Busted

In an article by Bob Avila, the June ’09 issue of H&Rcovers common myths of horse buying—such as“buy a young horse for your child, so they can grow up together.”

Do you agree this is a myth to be busted? Have you seen exceptions? What other myths or issues related to buying horses would you like to see brought to light?

I guess I am the exception to that rule as I was raised with horses and had many foals and young one's around. But I had parents that were knowledgable, maybe that's an exception to the rule too. LOL. And this was many, many years ago.

I wouldn't encourage anyone to buy a young horse for a child these days. Kids are too distracted with all the new gadgets that don't need constant care and can be tossed aside and forgotten easily.
