Weirdest trailer I have ever seen...

I meant to post about this the other night... On my way home from work, I saw this skinny horse trailer... it was about half the width of any trailer I have seen, but it was long... I wish I had my camera with me, I would have snapped a pic b/c it was SO ODD.

It looked really nice, was in good shape and actually looked kinda "fancy" but it was just really narrow. I guess you would have put two horses in there, one right behind the other... and I know I saw at least one set of ears through the trailer's window screen. Anyone ever seen a trailer like this? Why do they make them?

With the extra length, do it make the trailer more stable? One of the problems trailer have when pulled by shorter vehicles is that they don't have the stability as if pulled by a long truck. I've seen brenderups in one horse but I have never seen a trailer like this.

I see alot of them in my area..I was told they were made for pulling with lighter vehicles back in the day..I agree, they don;t look super safe

They seem like they would be more susceptible to rollover?

RR- That's exactly what it was! It was a different color, of course. I didnt think it looked very safe either (rollovers), and was wondering if someone cut the middle 1/3 of a bigger trailer out and welded it back together and gave it a nice paint job.

    But now I know! Thanks!

If you look where the axles are on the bottom one - it has to be quite stable. Smile

Theres a couple around in this area. With those two auctions, the gooseneck doesn't look very stable, but the second one looks stable. I just don't understand the point, really. I mean, I do Smile But it looks to me as if they would tip over easy if they didn't have the wide base like the second auction... But if you have the wide base like in the second one, why not just have a regular straight load two horse?

I wonder what the advantages are? I would think that it would either tip easily or else the horse in back would be easily injuried because of kicking or whatever. It probably has dividers and what not, but still. Pretty interesting!

They have EXTREMELY low wind resistance, meaning you can pull them with less of a vehicle, and you get better gas milage.
