Can non-gaited horses use gaited-horse saddles? What makes the gaited saddles different than the non-gaited?Thanks,Mary
As long as the saddle fits the horse it will not matter. The gaited saddle is made to free up the shoulders of a gaited horse. What horse wouldn't like more movement in that area.
They are usually too wide. I say usually, because there is always the exception!
See my reply in WESTERN, saddle fitting for thoroughbred type. I have great luck using gaited saddle on my appendix with prominant withers and QH barrel. But it came with a lot of experimenting.
