    Tribute to my girls.

Hey all, this thread is to remember my 3 girls I had euthanized Yesterday.

First off is Majic, I don't have many pics of her.  SHe had cushings, was in her early 30's and not doing well anymore.

I added the links to the pics but if you just click reply (you don't have to reply if you don't want) you can then see the whole pic.

Here she is hiding behind the round bale feeder

This is Majic and my 6 YO son doing what ponies do best.

Adorable photos.  The girls will live in your heart forever.  You gave them a wonderful life and a peaceful end. That's the best we can do for them.  Your son will take his memories with him through life also.

    *hugs*

This is Lady, my son's little show mare.  I've known this horse for 20 years, I competed against her the one year I showed in 4H.  She ended up having a cancerous tumor growing above her eye.  WIth her age we decided that it would do more harm then good to try and remove it.

This was the day we brought her home 4 years ago.

Yes, this is my little one sitting on her backwards, she was *THEE* best kids horse.

See what I mean about good, she stood there for an hour and never flinched that day

This was just a few months ago at age 25

This was fair this year, that's her and my son on the left.  He and the other girl were matching rodeo clowns for the costume class since there horses look so much alike.

This year at fair my son rode Lady in 6 different speed events.  He won 3 of the 6, and had a 2nd, a 3rd and a 4th in the other three.  Their last year together in fair was a good one.

What a sweet looking mare. The perfect kids' horse, by the looks of things.  They are worth their weight in gold.

    Re: Tribute to my girls.

This is Jenna, my very first horse.  It would have been 15 years in December that she was in my life.  She was rank, mean and witchy when I got her.  But, she taught me so much in the first year I had her.  She made me the horseman I am today.  I don't have to many pics of her to post cause I"m just realizing that most pics I have of her are actual before digital camera times.  When I first saw this mare it was kind of like my hubby, I just knew she was the one.  She was 300 - 400 lbs underweight when I first got her.  Hated men, expecially men with beards.  She never fully got over that.  It tookher and hubby a good 10 years to come to and understanding with each other.  My boys however she dearly loved.  I vowed the day I bought that mare that I would never let her go thorugh what she had again.  I had spoke to 3 of her 4 previous owners after buying her and found out that she had been horribly abused, hence hating men so much.  In all the years I owned that horse there were 3 men she liked right off the bat.  She produced me 4 wonderful babies over the years.  One of which is the paint in my siggy that my son also showed this year in 4H.  Next year we are going to venture in to the world of English riding on Brat.

Anyhoo, she will be missed (they all will be) but I know now that she's in a good place and nothing can hurt her ever again.  I did cut off all her tail hair to have it made into an extension for Brat.  Being mother and daughter Jenna's tail is a dead on match for Brats.  Now anytime we go showing we will always have a piece of Jenna with us.

onto what few pics I have of her online.  I have recently taken a bunch but have lost my camera cord so they are all on the camera.

This is her on the left and Brat on the right

haha, this is spring 08 when she decided to rip her jaw open

This is the same mare and kid, (see how much he's grown) this is her lovely winter color.

In this pic it's Jenna, Journey, Lady and Majic.  This was taken this summer.

Wonderful idea to make a tail piece with her tail hair, so she will always be with you.  I can't even imagine saying goodbye to three of them on one day.  My heart goes out to you.  These photos have been a wonderful tribute and testament to their lives.

They're all so beautiful. I am so glad that they were able to live happy lives with you... each picture shows how well loved they were. I'm sorry you had to make the decision to put them down, but glad you were there til the end for them. *Hugs.*

Hey girlfriend....Left HugRight HugBroken Heart Take time out to have yourself a real good cry. It helps, trust me.

I bet they are having the time of their lives over the rainbow bridge. Now Vanny has a few more friends to play with. You were very brave and kind and made their last moments count.

JG, your girls are gorgeous and they look as if they all have hearts of gold. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been to say goodbye to three at the same time, but I'm sure they are grateful that you spared them from pain and suffering.

When you're ready, I'm sure a few more will find their way to you.

Quite honestly, if I have to ever do it again, I would do just the same.  The worst part is the anticipation, knowing what you have coming.  The waiting for the vet to show up.  I will always cherish the last 2 1/2 hours I spent holding onto the end of two lead ropes while the big girls munched on alfalfa.  The pony was tied to the trailer rather long so she could eat too.  I'm SO much better today then I thought I would be.  I don't have the space to bury them so a dear friend let me bury them at her place.  Which ment I had to haul there.  I wanted to make sure I had plenty of time to load Jenna.  She could be a PITA when it comes to loading.  She wasn't, she walked right in.  So I ended up getting there an hour before my appointment and the vet was late.

In my situation part of what helped that is I made this decision months ago so I've had time to come to terms with it.  That coupled with the fact that for the last 8 months my horses have been boarded and not in my back yard makes a little bit of a difference.  I've not looked out every day and seen them then all the sudden they aren't there.

For me is was easier to do it all at once rather then to drag it out.  Emotionally as much as financially.  This way I had one farm call, the vet gave me a group discount and I only had to pay the back hoe guy once.  AND, I said my good bye's to each of them pretty much at the same time.  This was also the first time I've ever had to put one down.  I've never lost one till now.  I've sold a few but the closest I've come was my best friend loosing her gelding that I loved dearly.
