    Stir Crazy!

I would normally be riding right now, but I'm stranded in the city because of car troubles (the joys of having a car with about 200,000 miles on it!) Anyone else having one of those days/weeks?

Sorry you're not having such a good week, FM.  I'm doing okay, but my boss has had a heck of a few days.

Last Friday, she was backing up the data on our main instrument and the hard drive on the computer crashed.  She had the last two days off, but instead of being able to relax, she ended up looking after her sick mother.  Today, she came back and the computer that she uses all the time simply died.  She has since been banned from all our computers!  Stick out tongue  We've been feeding her chocolate and coffee, trying to help improve her attitude.  We've also ordered her a new computer and the instrument technician is currently here, replacing the hard drive.  Things should improve!  I hope they do for you, too!

Ouch, I feel for your boss! At least she has such understanding co-workers.

I think the stress of midterms has made things worse... Lily is usually my outlet for that stress!

I feel ya.  I think the stress is the worst part.  I take my first CPA exam section in a week, and I'm not even close to prepared enough... then I just got two huge projects for my job as a graduate assistant for the college that are going to be presented to the president of the university... then I have a bunch of busy work for classes, which is at the bottom of my priority list .... then Rizzie is so out of shape that I can't do more than walk her and trot her for a few minutes each direction.  :(  Not to mention its getting cold, and going to the barn is less fun when it's cold!

Saturday: Got the news that my puppy (showdog, pride and joy) might need surgery.  Have to wait until Monday (19th) to find out for sure.

Sunday: Threw up all day, called in sick for Monday thus voluntarily giving up double time.

Monday: Felt fine (could have worked that double time)... but the furnace died Monday night.  Because of the holiday they couldn't fix it, and we had a very cold night (it's been snowing here for a week).

Tuesday: Woke up to find my Jeep had been stolen.  I LOVE this car and I've only owned it for two months.  We got it back, but the electrical system is fried and it'll be in the shop for at least a week, more likely two or more.  Can't go to the barn since I have no vehicle.

Yeah, I'd say I'm having that kind of week!

Squeaks, I'm sorry, what a horrible week! I'll be thinking of you and your puppy this weekend.

I'm assuming that since they found your Jeep, they found who stole it? Or was it abandoned?

    Re: Stir Crazy!

Thanks flake!  It was abandoned.  It has a fancy gizmo called an "immobilizer" that basically shuts down the engine if it's hot-wired.  They tried to re-start it, and that's when everything got really fried.  Thanks to the immobilizer they only got about half a block (but STILL, dammitall!!!).  Once they figured out it was a lost cause, they tried to steal our neighbour's truck which was parked right next to where the jeep stopped.  Happily, they had no luck there either.  Both vehicles were locked and don't show any point of entry - no locks forced, windows broken etc - so we're wondering what they used to get in.

FM, Hope you're having a better day today! At least you didn't get stuck in that mess of traffic due to the 90/94 cave in yesterday (yep, I was stuck in it!). Have I ever mentioned how much I hate the City!

Hmm, I would have, too! So I guess it doesn't really matter.

The car is fixed, Ross's dad came down and worked his magic on it (literally, he sprayed something in, scrubbed something with a toothbrush, and presto.)

So off to the barn tomorrow since I'm in classes all day today. Whoo traffic.... haha.

    Re: Stir Crazy!

Aw, poor guys! My week hasn't been that bad but it hasn't been the best either.  Bailey, that new mare I got, is completely psycho.  It has also been freakishly cold here (40's and 50's) I live in Eastern NC, it ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THIS! anyway...My research methods in CJ prof just up and left my school, so new prof halfway through the semester....Hunting season (rifle, whatever) started here Friday, so now I have to be super careful not to look at trucks in case an absolutely beautiful innocent creature is slaughtered in the back of it bc some idiots think it is fun to kill things, on a busy highway on my way to school there are 2 puppies someone has put out that me and my mom still have not been able to catch, it is only a matter of time before we see them squished on the side of the road (we carpool since ECU and the hospital she works at are 1hr aways from home) Oh, and hunting season started....Bailey has decided she doesn't like to be tied, so she throws a fit whenever she is(I can see her face, she isn't scared, just mad as...)  I was going to ride her the other day, but when I went out to her she was still in heat(has been since I got her except maybe 2 blissful days) and decided it would be fun to spin in circles and kick at Rascal (my 24yr old gelding, the only horse she likes, evidently they are planning on making babies...) So, me being chicken (and smart) I decide riding is out of the question and so ground work...she doesn't like to stop, so after 15min of tight circles I can get her to stop, walk, turn, etc without a problem (no she doesn't stop squared up but that is just....) then we move on to picking up feet, and she tries to cowkick me, she missed bc I can side step quickly, and the when I went to look at her teeth she decides since her kick missed, she will eat me instead.  Keep in mind she is supposed to be my 'release, outlet' whatever, and instead has turned into the horse from....Oddly enough though she is one of the most responsive riding horses I have ever been on, it is just getting up there that is the problem.

Oh, and my 12yr old Border Collie's (with pemphigus that the vets said wouldn't live past 4 or 5) arthritis in his front leg is getting bad enough without constant pain meds he can barely walk.  I am terrifed, I have had that puppy since he was 10 weeks old and I was 8 yrs.  I don't know what I would do without him.  He taught my other dogs everything they know.

Sorry to rant, but I'm glad your car is fixed now, and sorry for the terribly grammar and long sentences!

    Re: Stir Crazy!

CG, no worries, this was meant to be a rant thread for everyone!

I hope you and Bailey figure each other out and she calms down. I feel for your Border Collie, it is so hard to have such a wonderful partner and see them suffer.

I'm upset right now because I have been selling a few things on Ebay to make ends meet - well, I sold a nice quality shirt that I liked but wasn't practical, it only sold for $30, but that's something, right? Sealed it up really nicely and sent it off Priority Mail at the post office with delivery confirmation. Somewhere along the line something happened, and it magically disappeared from its packaging. Idiot post office delivered an empty package (stamped "received without contents.") The buyer is being nice and understanding, but now I'm out a shirt and the shipping money.

*Sigh.* On the bright side, the saddle that I was watching in a wide came back from trial, so they'll be sending it out in about a week. Yay!

Crittergirl, I saw on RFT-TV something called Cetyl-M and they showed a dog that couldn't use it's back legs. After the Cetyl-M he could walk on all 4's. Maybe you could check it out.

I'm sorry y'll had such a sucky week last week. I hope this week works better for everyone.

PS: my car has 224,000 miles on it and I always talk nice to it so it gets me where I need to go!Stick out tongue
