Need help picking a show color

Here's Riley my 3 year old App/QH will be showing in Pleasure and Horsemanship next spring. The current shirt i have is a bright Floral collared shirt with Turq, and Green and Light Blues and i think its just going to be to loud for his coloring he's a real red in the sun. I'm not looking to spend a ton.

I currently have a solid white twill top from rods but its a little big

Here's a picture of him on a decent day, although its not sunny out

I have the same problem!  My horse is also that really bright coppery red color that is BEAUTIFUL but very hard to match.  I would go with natural colors or maybe a natural base color with just a little bit of blue, turquoise, or something of that sort.  When you get him all bathed and primped for a show he is going to be so shiny that you don't want to have too many other busy colors contrasting with him.

You could also try something like Mayatex's metallic reversibles if you wanted somthing with a little more "zing".  They are a little more flashy without being busy.

It's tricky with that color horse!  when you figure it out put up a picture!

I like to look at show proofs at www.kcmontgomery.com to get an idea of what colors look good with certain coat colors.  If you go by the Hobby Horse color wheel, the blues and greens would look good with a sorrel.  There's nothing wrong with being "loud" in the show pen!  When you're in a sea of sorrels and bays, don't you want to stand out a little? :)

I LOVE sticking out in the show pen for the right reasons lol. like taking my saddlebred into a huntseat class or into gymkhana :)

Color wise we have a tack swap on the 28th i might go to and look around at the greens and blues, Thanks!

I think a nice light blue or turquise type of color would look quite lovely on him (and you of course!)Smile

What about black?  Or metallic?  That would look nice on him
