    Weight Loss Challenge

In light of al of the challenges and the discussions about weight around here. I have decided to try to have a rider weight loss challenge. I don't know how many other people here show but I am guessing lots. My show season starts June 5 and I want to loose 30pounds by then. Does anyone else want to take up this challenge? You saw what happened in the novel "challenge". Everyone accomplished their goals cause there was others rooting them on and they wanted to be able to say they did it too. So in light of that anyone else want to join me? You can specify how much you want to loose by then or you can choose the same amount I did. Understand I am not very fat just want to get into better shape for shows. Anyone else??

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

I'll take you up on that!!!!

I was SOOO good just a few months ago. Living on my own, at the gym when I wasn't at work (I was at work 14 hours a day, 4 days a week). I got down to my high school jeans. You know how it is...."maybe I'll fit in those someday", and I did!! Then I moved to KY to be with my honey, quit my job and learned how to cook. Now I can make a killer meal, and my butt proves it! I'd like to lose a good 20-30 lbs. I have a great gym near by. I know I need to cut back on the cooking of bad stuff. Being a single gal in Cali, I only ate when I was hungry and knew I would work it off. I got rid of all my fat clothes. I had to buy fat jeans this week, but only allowed myself one pair. I want to get back in those size 6 Wranglers!!!!

So are you working out? Cutting back on bad food? I know it really just comes down to busting a$$ at the gym and lots of salads!! Good luck with your goal!!!

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Oh I would so like to take you up on this. I used to be in shape had an outdoor job and worked out now I have a mostly office job and haven't been to the gym in months. (I still have a membership!)
I got my horse in June so haven't been to the gym since then. Now that it is cold and snowy can't ride as much so not out with the horses as long so would love to start the gym again and try and loose about 25-30lbs. As I want to event next year. At the moment I wouldn't make it round the x-c course!
One problem I am going to england over xmas so won't exercise there and will probably eat lots!!! can I start after xmas??!!!! I know my attitude sucks!

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Alright that is great!! It is a lot easier to keep going when you have others doing the same things. I am trying to a) cut way back on bad foods, eat less, etc. b) work hard try to work out more. Don't have a gym around here but as someone else suggested a while back, there is TONS of ways to work out more around horses. Cleaning more stalls, carrying water, etc. Just doing stuff like that.

Sure if you want to start after Christmas you can. So far it sounds like it is just the 3 of us and we will go for loosing 30 pounds by next June or earlier. Lets all post our ideas for loosing weight and see what we have. I did mine on the post to horseygirl.

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

I don't have much to do at the horses...no stalls to muck out, water to carry, unfortunately I used to enjoy doing that!
I have a gym so will start with walking on the treadmill, then build up to run etc.
Any ideas for eating less? I love my food! and if I don't eat big enough portions I am still hungry. I have stopped drinking pop, cut out chocolate.
I live in Alberta, canada so quiet far away I guess not sure where you are?

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Okay I have found that if you eat a little less here and there your appetite will slowly diminish. Oh course I have a strange stomach and if I eat less for one or two meals I can't eat much more at all. Skrinks pretty fast I guess. LOL!! But if you do that it should work good. Also I heard that jogging with your horse(s) is a good way to get into shape. I live in Central Wisconsin. So we are probably a ways away. Frown Oh well. I was hoping that if we didn't live to far away we could have a big "party" day when we completed the challenge! But I don;t know if that would work. Would be fun though and reward our efforts.

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

    Hi!!
Ok... Did we start yet? I was good at breakfast. I had fat free creamer in my coffee! A

nd I have already been to the barn and cleaned the stall. Le Doux (my horse)thought it would be fun to tear down the round bale and cover his barn/stall in it. It is about 15x35 and hid poop in it all over the place. Gotta love our kids! It was 19* out there and I forgot my jacket. So I was forced to keep warm by working.

Hey...workout tip #1, only wear a sweatshirt! I don't think I will be getting to the gym today. Waiting around for UPS. Angry Oh, I am in KY, near Fort Knox.

As far as cutting out soda. I did that about a year ago. But I couln't go without. I switched to diet. I only have one a day. At first it was hard to go "diet", but now I love the taste....it's that addictive stuff they put in Sweet n Low! When I first cut it out, I lost 6lbs by just making that one change.

Well, I guess that is my installment for today. Good luck ladies!!! (or are we not all ladies?) Confused

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Sounds like you are doing good. Yeah I would work with just a sweat shirt but it is in the negative degrees here. And I was just sick. Mom would actually kill me if she saw me out there like that. Smile Hardly ever drink sodas and only in small amounts so that is no biggie for me. I am trying to drink more water, eat more fruits and veggies, and just excersise more. Yup I am a lady.

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Fantastic idea!! I'm in. I have lots more (50 - 60)than you guys to lose and I am pushing 50 so it is really tough. I have an office job and have to drive 1 hour to and from work so that doesn't leave me much time but I will do it, somehow. Maybe working out on weekends will help with the time problem. It is rather cold for walking some days up here but I guess I can bundle up and get at it. BTW, to the member from Alberta, where in Alberta do you live? As you can see, I live here too.

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

i'm late-can i still join?? i have 40 -50 as well to lose. i've lost 50 so far so i know i can do it. when we bought aragorn i really slacked off the working out. i have been more consistent-trying to workout 4/5 days a week. i have a first show planned on march 26th-schooling show so i wont have to buy "expensive" show clothes. i need to be a size 10 by then. 2 sizes down from now!! i walk, strength train and do a step aerobic thingy.
I see my thighs have grown since the last time I wore these breeches........

Sure you can join in!! The more the merrier! I think there is several of us "show girls" who need to slim down a bit so this is a great way to do it.

Holy...I think you can be the inspiration to us all!! you are doing far better than me at the moment. I know what it is like when yo get the horse and forget to work out, well didn't forget just didn't have time. Now the winter is here I am going to make a bigger effort to go to the gym.
