    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Here's what I do to fill up. I have small portions of the higher calorie/fat meal (small piece of the meat, potatoes, whatever) and then eat alot of veggies like a whole can of carrots if I am still real hungry (or eat the veggies first). Could do salad instead too.

Another tip for munchies if you like raw veggies & dip. I mix fat free ranch and french together to dip cauliflower and carrots in.

when i get the munchies i steam brussel sprouts and eat them like popcorn! spray a little cany belive its not butter. 2 steamed artichoks will make you full for days. if i do dip in butter, i count that as my fat intake for the day. one stick has 800 cals!!!!

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

I lucked out and had 2 weeks free trial. By the time I plunked my heavy butt onto some of the sit down ones and did a few moves it was time to jump up and do the jogging thing. I would like to have had more time on each one so I could do it slower. They said if I did it by direct deposit it would be cheaper.
I have all kinds of excuses for not doing anything here. lol I don't have stairs except outside and I don't think the rest of the family would enjoy me jumping around the living room in front of my computer. (or they would laugh LOL) I might be able to get my mom's treadmill when I am there at Xmas unless my brother is using it. (He started with Fitday and is losing too) I do walk alittle at lunch sometimes-window shop, library, but it is a colddd walk!

I don't believe in getting on from the ground either. Even if I get 6" from standing on something it helps. (also people pushing from behind. lol)They must have good reason. but they are the only place around that doesn't do the regular nose to tail trail rides so I wanted to go try it. Darn them.

Love my butter spray! I was almost a margarine/butter addict so I was glad when they came out with that!!!

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

You can count me in, too! I'm currently at about 155, and I'd love to get down to somewhere in the 130's. I always seem to plateau at about 150, but maybe with someone to answer to, I can kick in a bit more effort Smile

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

30 lbs by June, that's like a pound a week! OK, I need to do this. My youngest daughter is supposed to get married in October and I don't want to be the fat lady.I was doing pretty good before Thanksgiving, then I went to a clinic and my mare was HORRIBLE...so bad I was told not to bring her back and I got discouraged and quit exercising.
Unfortunatly I don't lose weight by exercising. And I LOVE to eat.
OK, after Christmas I'll get serious.

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

I posted my weight loss before. 90 pounds and I am 45 years old.
I cut out soda, even diet soda, and I drank alot of water, still do.
Reduce your portions, I used a small salad plate, and stay away from fast foods !
Fast food have nothing to offer but calories and fat.
I started out walking slowly. If you try to do too much too fast, your muscles will be so sore, you won't want to exercise.
At first I just walkied ten mins. per day, than eventually worked up to 40 mins to an hour, three times a week. I have my own treadmill because I knew I could never get motivated enough to go to a gym.
I changed my metabolism, and the only way I accomplished this was with exercise.
So good luck to everyone, and just remember to not get discouraged, stay motivated.

Has anyone tried the South beach diet?
I did once, its a hard one to stick with but a pretty good one. and you loose 8-10 lbs in the first week.

Me too, on both accounts! Even when I was in boot camp, I came out the same weight I went in at. And if that's not exercising, I don't know what is Stick out tounge Although I do have to admit my pants fit better afterwards, so I must've been changing some of that tissue to muscle.

And I'm a big eater, so I have to be really careful to fill up on tons of fiber and veggies, and drink lots of water. One way or another, I'm taking something in to fill up that space, so I really have to start with something low-cal and filling. Cheese is a big weakness of mine, and while it's not that terrible in and of itself, I can really eat heaps of it, so it adds up in a jiffy.

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

I did some good this weekend. Went riding both days, which has been hard due to the cold temperatures. Did some dressage which was hard work! and then went for a ride round the field on sunday, did some two point...hard work! Also cleaned out the muck from the field, walking back and forth. Also cleaned the house....very hard work!! Don't think I did too good on the eating though! I am going to start drinking water, I usually have water with frozen juice mix. and going to look at that fit site for counting calories. Thanks everyone this is good for motivation!

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Does anyone have a low thyroid?? Even though I am on medication and my thyroid tests say I am now in the normal range I have a very tough time losing weight no matter what. I lose a few pounds and then the brakes go on and stay on. I know there are plateaus but this is nuts. My doctor says it must be something I am doing wrong.
Does anyone else have that problem or know someone who does and has overcome it? I want to do well at this challenge.

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

AAHHHHH!!! Don't look at those #'s....muscle weighs more than fat! Being an Army wife, I know you had killer muscles after boot camp!! And they way they feed you, I'm sure you were burning way more calories then you took in!!

I am a believer in "No Pain, No Gain".-- to a point. When I am working out, I know I have to go through some pain before I can get to where I want to be. And if you look back after a couple weeks, what made you hurt before, makes you stronger now. A month ago I could barely do 100 situps. Now I am at 300 a day because 100 got easy after a while, it kills but I'm determined to find that 6 pack, ok, maybe not, just a smaller tummy would be good. But I am not a nut case... I won't hurt myslef, but I will try to push myself. If I am exhausted after 20 min of cardio I will try for 23 minutes, then a few more minutes the next time.

Alright, I've done enough talking. I'm off to go play with my horse. Have a good day everyone!! Grin
