I have not been here in a long time, what a change, hope I can figure this out. A lot has happened in my life since last here, our beautiful Arabian got out of her stall Sept. 1 and got killed by a passing pick up. The same day a registered 2 yr. old gelding I was buying broke his leg and had to be put down. the seller did offer me another horse. A 2 yr. old qh filly, no papers though. but I bought her anyway. she is a sweet heart. very calm and quiet so far, and would follow me all over the place if I gave her a chance. 14 Dec. I had to put down my 29 yr. old Miniature Stallion. He had suffered from Cushings disease for the past 5 yrs. was just starting to really come around, put on weight, had some energy, but He rolled and ruptured something inside, and just looked at me with those sad eyes as if to say, "Let me go" so we did, Vet came out and helped him over the Rainbow.
Now it is time to get my life in order and start working with the new filly. by the way, Her sire is Lucky Northstar a registered qh. her dame is Serenade so she is called Sara for barn name, and since Sara means Princess, her show name will be Serenading Lucky's Princess
Will try to get in here more often if I can find the road back. I followed an article in my e-mail today. take care every one, and Jayne, good to see you still have the forum (or a new forum)

Good to see you back again, but sorry to hear about your sad losses.
I hope you have fun as you begin to start working with Sara, and all your bad luck stays behind you.

well, as usual I lost my way to here, just found it again doing a search on Jayne. Sorry to say, my bad luck still ran true, That 2 yr. old Filly, Sara died April 5, 2006 Ovulation pain. we had been tracking her discomfort for several months, we were able to walk her out of it every 21 to 28 days, until April even Banamine did not help, she ended up rolling before we could stop her, she twisted the small intestine, and then before we could locate a local surgeon, she ruptured her stomach, vet had to put her down at the ripe YOUNG age of 3 yrs. never got ridden. Then the 5th. of Feb. 2007 (2 wks ago) my daughter's 13 yr. old Miniature mare coliced, just a slight discomfort, Banamine helped for a couple days, but suddenly Sat. she went down, after acting like she was going to be ok, and wanted out. she died with my daughter holding her, my hubby and grandson were trying to keep her from thrashing around. the vet was on her way, and was shocked when I called her and told her she had died, so we decided to do a nepcropsy. just got the results last night, Seems she must have had an aneurysm. no twist, and the only blockage was actually in her stomach (gravel from eating the sandy loam off the floor ) vet said a period of years. but we did find signs of internal bleeding, her heart was good, but Aorta had no blood, the lungs were full of blood. She took a piece of it to Cornell, they found nothing wrong, No infections, no poison, no disease, so figure she was born with problems and they got worse thru the 13 yrs. and with the slight pain from the stomach blockage, she ruptured the aneurysm, thus drowned in her own blood. Then Sunday night my akita/german shepherd guard dog died, we think form mourning the horse, they grew up together, at 6 months old he used to go into the pen and play with the mini. and for the past year they have been penned next to each other in my front yard, He was old too, 12 yrs. old so it was a combination of age and missing the horse, he saw us take her out of the barn. Then this past weekend we had all the other horses out for exercise, and some one called the sheriff on us, he told us we had to get them in out of the cold. This is why I was trying to find you Jayne, in doing a search on how horses stay warm in the cold, I found your article in Planet pets.com I've quoted you on a couple paragraphs and said that I had taken it from an article you wrote. I've written this for an "open letter to the Editor" and "to whom it concerns" it has not been printed as of yet. I have a blog on delphi forums with all this info, I need to update my Yahoo blog too. Glad I found your forum again, and good to see you are still here. as always Lady Andy (ceramicgirl) or Naydine

I am soo very sorry! Lots of good thoughts going your way!
I don't know how I would be able to cope with all that. Take care and hang in there!
BTW, if it isn't too cold for you, it isn't too cold for the horses!!! Connie

I'm so sorry I know how hard losing even one is. Hugs to you and your family.
