Critique this pony please
This is a pony I am looking at. Please tell me any faults you see. He would be just a riding pony and maybe to do playdays on. There is something odd with his neck I think and his belly is huge. But the colors of his spots are really unique.

How old is he?? He doesn't even look like a yearling. He looks spindally and weak. He has cowhocks. His neck is awful and I don't like the way it ties into his withers. ICK I'd pass! his colorr is nice but he's just to incorrect.

Re: Critique this pony please
He is just a weanling, I dont know why they have a saddle on his back. He does look really weak. They said he is recovering from getting beat up by a big horse. But that neck is really bad.

Re: Critique this pony please
Well, to be honest, my first thought was "Ewww!" His neck is thin, his legs look like they can barely support him, his hooves look strange (tad long?), and he's just... extremely odd looking. And why on earth do they have a saddle on him?

Re: Critique this pony please
He looks to me like he hasn't been taken care of. They are selling him for 300 OBO. I was just wondering if there was any hope of him ever looking normal.

Re: Critique this pony please
Sadly, and for many reasons, I don't find him to be attractive and he looks like he has some health (worms?) and conformation issues. However if you have the extra $300 for him (or make a lower offer), money for appropriate care and feed and several years to see how he develops - then go for it if that is what you want. Hmmm... Extra time, money,patience... But if you want a sure thing, he looks doubtful to me. JMHO.

Re: Critique this pony please
I feel really sorry for the poor thing. I think they would even sell him for less. He is in the area of texas were there isn't much grass and hay is so expensive and it's about to be winter.

I'm not very good at conformation so I will just say that I think he looks super sad. And, have his feet ever been done?! I would be tempeted to take him just to see what he would look like after a farrier, wormer and some love. Let us know what you decide.

Re: Critique this pony please
I'm thinking maybe even though he isn't really pretty some kid might love him if he was started right.

Re: Critique this pony please
This is what his add says "Full DescriptionWonder is a pintoloosa colt out of KCS TONIS ECHO a paint pony mare and sired by a HOMOZYGOUS Appoloosa pony MAJOR WONDER. He is weaned and ready to go to his new home. He has very unique coloring and would definetly draw some attention! He has just had all his shots, coggins, and recent de-worming. He does have a big cut on his face that he had to get stitched up 8/24/06 because some bigger horses got into our pasture and scared him into something that cut him pretty bad. The vet said it will heal up but he may have a scare there. He is very friendly, almost halter broke, stands tied, trailors, and has a very laid-back personality. Lots of potential to be a good kids pony when he grows up!"

Re: Critique this pony please
He's a weanling, and they put a bit in his mouth?? Sheesh. No wonder he looks miserable. What breed is he? I think that if you have the extra money, room, and attention for him, and you really want him, then you can give him a better home than he has now. I don't do conformation critiques, so take what I say for however it helps you.

Re: Critique this pony please
Personally, I don't think you can trust the ad - it is just someone's opinion of what they think he might be like in a few years. Up to date on shots doesn't mean he has had all the shots necessary for your preference or your barn. It still comes down to do you want/can you afford to put the extra time money and attention into him. If so, then go with your heart and make an offer on him and take care of him correctly. Someone may well want him in the future but if you are wanting to make aprofit on turning him around, I doubt it will happen. Not that you have even hinted that is what you want to do - I'm just saying. Again, JMHO.
Is he close enough for you to go see? Until you see him in person you won't know a thing for sure.

Re: Critique this pony please
Poor thing, he looks like hell. If you can get him cheap enough, do it, just to give him a chance. Matter of fact, if I were closer, I'D get him out. If they're tacking him, they're thinking about riding...... Take a crop and beat the crap outta his owners, will ya?(Joking, somewhat- ya'll. Anyone surprised the rescue chick wants her to buy him? lol)

Re: Critique this pony please
He is about 6 hour away, so not really close but there is a possibility I could go see him. Actually I know a 4 yo boy who is begging for a horse for him and his little brother. His uncle was thinking about finding him a pony and he is a great guy. I am going to probably talk to him tommorow and suggest this poor little guy. He is still to young to be ridden or even IMO to have a saddle and bridle on, but he could be a good project for them.
