Amber, I only just found this thread and have spent considerable time today (it's raining anyway) reading the whole story of Pheonix.  What a trip!!  I have been laughing and tearing up over it.  Seeing the "before" and "after" pics is really amazing.  The "bucking" pics are priceless.  He looks so happy now.  You really did a wonderful thing.

How tall did he get to be?  He looks like he is so strong and a real "good ride".

What ever happened with the abuse cases that you were going to report to authorities?  Did those horses get "saved"?

Thanks for a great story about your little guy Pheonix with a very happy ending.

Jackson1:  Thanks I am proud of my handsome boy.  He has turned out to be a true ugly duckling storyBig Smile

Solo:  That is why I put the second set of pictures together.  I thought it was interesting to see that he was the same structurally in both.  Except the horrible angle of his pasterns from never being trimmed in the old pictures.  I know you wouldn't talk bad about Pheo although he is not perfect.  But dont tell him I said so because he thinks he isCool

Nicole:  Raising him has taught me how parents must feel.  It's like I blinked and he was grown up.  But he is still my baby.

Txspots:  He better be happy, LOL.  That is one spoiled horse and not just by me.  He is the horse that thinks everyone is his best friend and wins people over even if they dont really like horses.  All of his aunties that live around here and his grandma bring him treats every time they come to the house.

Thanks!  I cant imagine not having this fun loving brat of a horse.  When I first saw him buck like that I thought, Oh No someday I am going to have to train that horse, LOL.  But he was so easy.  I think he has only bucked once when I had the english saddle on him and it didn't fit him yet but I stupidly decided to get on it anyways.  Long story short it slipped sideways I came crashing down and he had a fit because the saddle was on his belly.  But it was a small fit and he came back to me ashamed and begging me to help him get that thing off, LOL

He is 14.3 right now but working on 15 hands.  He still has 3 and a half years to grow.

The starving horses got ignored even though we called and emailed for several weeks.  I was almost to the point of cutting the fence and letting them wander to my house and calling someone I know who would pick up the "strays".  Thank God I didn't have to break the law.  They actually pushed down part of the fence thmselves and animal control had to be called to catch them.  Of course then they realized that they really were starving and  they were going to confiscated them on Monday but the owner somehow found out and moved them Sunday.  Two weeks later I almost had a wreck when I saw them back in their same field.  They have since got rid of one of the horses and are actually feeding the rest.  I did a happy dance to see that they had a round bale this week.  If they start to loose weight again you better believe I will be right back down animal controls throat!

when i got on today i saw this thread with 200+ posts and thought oh wow which horse was this. i automatically opened it up and went "awww its pheo!!" I was around when you were looking at him to begin with. Up untill now i never realized how much he was grown into a handsome man from a scraggly pony. (Props to you)

Congrats!!! I know what you mean saying i wish more of the long lost memebers were here to see this one.

Without my horse, im just human. Without me, my horse is just an animal. But when you put us together we become an unstoppable team!

Aww he may not be perfect but he needs some love & care. Every little horse needs a little girl! He doesnt have to be perfect if he isnt going to be a show horse! He could turn out to be one of the best little ponys in the world! (=

I'm just trying to look at the good side of things. He may have a weird neck & a big tummy but he might have to grown into it.

And maybe they will all come back someday.  I get excited everytime one of them pops in and posts something.

This thread is 3 yrs old.  I just pulled it out of the archives to relive the adventure of bringing him home.  And look a few posts back.  I put up some before and after pictures.

Thanks for taking up for my baby though.  He is the best little almost 15 hand pony in the worldSmile
