November is almost here, so it’s time to start thinking about this year’s Secret Santa Gift Exchange. I’d like to thank xhaltsalute for her assistance in running this year’s exchange.

Below you’ll find the guidelines and information about how you can get signed up.

The Secret Santa gift exchange is open to active forum members who joined the forum on or before September 30th, 2006. We apologize in advance to anyone this disqualifies, but experience in previous years has taught us that we need to set a deadline for membership.

As you can see, we’ve set up a User ID of Secret Santa to keep track of the participants. So, in order to sign up, send a private message to Secret Santa and include the following information.

Your Forum ID
Your email address
Your full name
Your mailing address

Also - please indicate whether or not you would be willing to exchange gifts with someone in a different country - most of our members are in the U.S., but we also have members in the UK, Canada and other countries.

The closing date for entries will be midnight on November 15th. xhaltsalute and I both have access to the Secret Santa mailbox, and once the entries are closed, your Secret Santa matchups will be sent out. Everyone should be matched up with a Secret Santa by November 20th.

The gift value has been set at $25 to keep this economical and fun for everyone.

We’re opening another thread called Santa’s Helper, where you can give your Santa some ideas on what you would like and find out what your partner wants too.

Remember -- Don’t sign up in that thread. Only people who send private messages to Secret Santa will be eligible for the Gift Exchange.

All gifts should be mailed by Monday, December 4th, which gives everyone two weeks to get the gifts and will allow plenty of time for them to arrive by Christmas.

Is there going to be list of questions (like favorite color, etc.) that can be responded to - assisting in deciding what to send?

Not a list to respond to,per se, but on the Santa's Helper thread, we mention the sort of things that people can include in their "wish list" - barn colors, etc.

We've had a couple of private messages in the Secret Santa box that simply say "sign me up!" or "how do I sign up". Those folks will need to send another private message to Secret Santa -- don't send them to me, we need to keep them all in the same mailbox, so when it comes time to match up, no one gets left out.

That's terrible. I don't think Jayne got anything either, if "memory" serves me.

Let's hope this year will be different and everyone will receive a Secret Santa gift. It's great to do something nice for someone and make their day

Just a suggestion:

If somebody doesn't get a gift from their secret santa, maybe we could post a thread after New Years - no names mentioned of course! Whoever didn't get a gift can just send a PM and those of us on the forum who want to keep this a fun event can send something out to them. Call it a "Santa to the Rescue" thread...

I was a lurker last year (I didn't actually register until this year) so I missed out on the fun. I am really looking forward to seeing who I get to shop for.
