    Re: back to pencils....

Sounds like a very good reason to stay home. I told my former boss the other day at coffee, that it was good I moved my retirement up a couple of months. Had I not, I'd have finished my career during one of our horrible ice storms, and that wasn't the work memories I wanted to take with me!

I braved the frigid wind chills today, put a scarf over my nose and face, and cleaned the paddocks. It rained night before last though, so Bela's got a small ice rink in one end of his paddock.

Mensa! I should have known or suspected all along! Probably SH, too!

I submitted a Mensa membership application several years ago. They sent back an EMPLOYMENT application! Seems all I'm qualified to do is park their cars on meeting nights. BLAH! Stick out tounge ~FH

Don't feel bad... I don't even think I'd qualify to park their cars!

That was great SeaStarz! I'm going to start adding those words to my vocabulary.

Hey Wendy - you are behind again, FH already told us about the paint - you really have to come visit more often Smirk

FH - speaking of parking cars, I was asked to direct traffic for parking at an event on Sat night - about 4,000 cars, dark and below freezing. Guess what I said? Yep: "HAHAHAHA!!" - I'll help inside but be warned, you all may never see me again. Unless Starz takes pity on me and takes me with her to see the Lippizaners??? Wink

Remmer how did you and the cake make out today - who won?

And Starz thanks for the great new words - I will have to incorporate a few of them. I see RC has already used one for rr but several others would apply to him too; this one: Arachnoleptic fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you've accidentally walked through a spider web.
reminded me of his jog through spider homes in Africa. Smile And speaking of rr hisself, if his screwdriver died and is buried - why isn't he here telling one of those stories he always hints at? He's probably going to try to fob off some hypothetical story about being out ice fishing when it's me, Starz and RC that are dealing with real snow, ice and cold. All the real women stand up and take a bow- or maybe I should say "grab a shovel"!! Grin Grin

FHM....why is it I can actually HEAR your voice when I read your posts, you write how you talk? So visitors - how nice for you, are they horsey gals? and what a bonus, the pub within walking distance.

oh no I feel a rr type story coming on ..... before I was married, I lived within staggering distance of my local too, its a true bonus!!

I dont think they would let me park their cars either Luce, although I have never applied to Mensa, but I have done those on line IQ tests, have you tried those, interesting, still dont know if I'm clever or dumb though, what is a reasonable score????

Gosh... I don't know anything about online IQ tests. I don't think I'm brave enough to take one. It's been too many years out of school, and too many brain cells have died. Now... if they had tests for common sense (aka: horse sense) I'd take those. What I lack in IQ I think I more than make up for in that area I believe....

I agree Luce - you gain a lot of common sense around horses dont you, after all half a ton of horseflesh coming at you is not to be taken too lightly!

So how are all your 'cosmetic' bumps and bruises, all healed nicely now?

Hi everybody! Yes, Cindy, that's what I did and do all the time with my horse Incarna(good for the seat too.) I cross my stirrups in front of me and do the circles, larger, smaller. Apparently, it has really helped my horse...

    RC..."such a dog's life," not suck...I type toooooo fast...

Well, stone the crows! It's a style I acquired from writing and delivering broadcast news for many years. Although my rabid misuse of punctuation drives traditional text editors to complete distraction (re; blue pencils), it meters the words in a way that allows the ear to recognize what the eye is seeing. I've been doing it for so long that I don't even think about it anymore. But, also out of habit, I DO most times go back and read aloud whatever I've written before I send it off to wherever it's going. If it doesn't sound like what I'd say in normal conversation, I usually change it. Unless I'm really mad about something... Then I can get pretty damned far into the thesaurus to drive home a point!

    Good on 'ya, AMM! Smile~FH
