    BAD BAD Blue (the horse)

Congrats to RC who has some great news with her new mount as rr and I bemoan ours.

rr I share your  pain - but I not thinkng of eating horse tomorrow.

Blue actually bucked me off yesterday  Super Angry- I think because he didn't want to trot and canter in the arena and I didn't react quick enough with a one rein stop as he was being so spastic I thought he was going to fall over if I pulled his head around and then it was too late and I flew off.  The bugger took off at top speed out the arena gate, tearing up divots in  the grass as he went. Devil He galloped about a quarter mile and said "oh - there's grass who cares?"  I lunged his hinney off both at the barn and in the arena, gathered my courage and remounted and rode a bit more. Yes I am SO stiff and sore today on one whole side and shoulder No - it is not too bad if I keep moving but if I sit still it really hurts to move again - and stairs are lots of fun... NOT! Indifferent Maybe I am too old to be doing this.... Broken Heart

I went to the barn today and lunged him again in the arena and in front of the barn but I just didn't feel up to riding - wasn't sure I could move well enough if he was a butthead again. Actually he was quite good in hand - now we have more things to work on under saddle.

DH is heading out to the cottage later tonight to spend a few days - we have to close up on Sunday - as well as do something about Halloween - maybe as in ignore it??

rr & sh, all I can say is OUCH! Hope both of you are feeling better from your respective bite and fall bruises.  sh, you did the right thing by lunging his bum off and getting back on.  You go, girl.

Solo, good luck in your comp. over the weekend.  I'm sure you and Mr. Red will do grrrrrreat!

RC, cannot wait to see pics of your new boy! I can't afford any more than my current 2, so I have to live vicariously through other's new horses ;)

    dressagedude:

OK, rr, at first I thought you were making some sort of perverted offer with your new title for the thread and was not interested.  Now that I know what you meant, take care of yourself.

Got me laughing(and my side really hurst this morning...) on that one DD!

SeaHorse, we'll just have to lunge these guys INTO THE GROUND now before riding them.  I am headed out for a limpy run this morning before friends come over.  He is going to get lunged and rode this morning, probably by all three of us!

Stay tuned...Will relate our "sessionn" with Incarna later in chat perhaps...

Hmmm, someone needs to rethink that book  There Are No Problem Horses, Only Problem Riders.  Speaking from experience as I have one bad one in my barn.  Ouch, I can feel your pain rr and SH.  I have had both those things happen to me in the past.

Bunny hasn't hurt me yet, but now she has taken to rearing when she's being led...

I will definitely take pics of the new boy for ya'll..  Still working on a new barn name.  Here is my list so far:

    Diesel (my fav)
    Wheeler
    Gamer
    Smiley (DDs fav)

    dd, you had me rotfl!

What a great picture, RC.  Aren't you glad when a sale works out so well?  Can't wait for the pictures of Wheeler (my favorite).

Good luck to you this weekend, Solo.  We'll be waiting for a full update on your successful show.

Anyone have any big plans for Halloween?  I have tomorrow off, since Nevada Day is the 31st and we get the day off to celebrate.  Big parade in Carson - I might go down for the road race and stay for some of the parade, but I haven't decided yet.  Other than that, the temperatures are supposed to rise, so there might be good riding time instead.

Hey, rr - my gelding made a swipe at me on Monday, just after I scratched him between his front legs.  Since that can be a "sensitive" area, maybe both guys took offense for some reason.  Even so, that behaviour is not allowed and JD got a swift kick in the shin from the side of my boot.  I have a little mark on my forearm and it's a little sore, but nothing like your injury.  How's it feel today?

Bad, Blue (the horse).  How do you feel today, SH?

Have you gotten some quality riding time in, SS?  Are you still unwinding?

How's the care, Blue?  Do you have it yet?  Maybe you can turn some good car-karma to Squeaks.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and don't eat too much candy!!

    Hi Guys,

Nice picie RC and I like Wheeler of those choices   - Smokey  (smoke signal) ?  Diesel isnt bad - but the Diesel I knew before was a huge grey TB. lol I'm not good at the name thing - lol Maybe as you see his personality something will stand out.

Hope you bruised and batterd bunch are feeling better today -  WOW Blue (the horse) was norty! I am STILL fighting this stupid bug  - thought I was gonna be much better today than I feel. I made a huge pot of favorite family recipie - Cloud Soup - it is yummy but I am not eating much yet and I feel kinda like crud still.  It totally wiped me out to make the soup - how sad is that -so no riding since Monday sheesh - I'm suppose to have more riding in not less!

Squeaks and Blue good luck with the cars!

Shoot I dont have any candy yet bugger! - better get to the store tomorrow for sure!

rr the only problem with longing their butts off to wear them down before you ride is then you just get a more fit norty horse - just a thought . . . Surprise

Naughty horses!  Owie for all, apparently.

Solo and I have happily managed to have a couple of good rides this week -- we had crap ones early in the week, I had a dressage meltdown and wrote big whiny email to my trainer.  She wrote some lovely advice back because she is wonderful and after TAKING said advice, big shock, Solo is much better!  Once again, I learn (and learn and relearn and learn again) that getting frustrated and clamping down does not really help one's riding or one's HORSE'S ability to go nicely.

Solo, I feel ya! I did the exact same thing - I was getting a rushy trot on the forehand and clamping up more and more. Lo and behold I decided to focus on just breathing deep for a few times around instead of the thousand other things I was thinking about and the crappy rushed falling on the forehand trot turned into a nice, smooth floaty trot.

    Good luck at your HT!

RC - we were chatting as usual this evening and the name "Spinner" came up as a possibility for your new 4 legged ride.  Continuing with the Wheel of Fortune theme there is also Vannah (but Blue, the woman, took that) and Vowel, Alex (oops!! I mean Pat), Bankrupt, etc etc....good thing we didn't stay in chat real long Stick out tongue

PS - Remmer: another great picture as your sig - 4 horses in a backyard - tell us about it.

Yes, we(with my two instructor buddies), were talking about this yesterday.  When I "scratched" Incarna I did it out a big "love" feeling and it was accompanied by a "grrrrrrrr" sound, as I often do when hugging my son.  Was this taken as sudden agressivity after so many years together or did he nip(nip for him) at me as a sign of effection(he was gelded very late?)

Anyway both friends said he had come a long way with all the extra feeding and work I've been putting into him.  I got a lunging lesson by Neal the international show jumper(this guy is so IN TO training horses!  No ego problem, just a very nice man.)  I was always taught that the horse turns around you....No so with this man, he wants the horse on the bit and MOVING FORWARD at the three strides, even when lunging.  He walks as much as the horse walks, trots and canters, always moving behind and on a very short lunge,...but immediatly Incarna looked better.

This went on for a while until I got it the way he wanted it and then I got up on Incarna's back.  He's feeling SCARY he getting so muscled up.  Both Simon and Neal feel he's a rather good horse with a lot of potential and there was even talk of perhaps Simon taking him into competition with his other Mare next year...

Never would have believed this a while back...Incarna must have slept well because he REALLY got his but worked off....

    later in chat...rrCool

    Re: Granny arrives...

What a sweet, gentle(attractive for 88years old,) little old lady!  Yes, our grandmother renter arrived this evening with her daughter.  We all had a quick soap and sandwich dinner together and she's off to her cottage.  My only fear is that our Labrador might knock her over one of these days.  She seems very small and frail.

Her daughter does the advertising for the national stud up the road and raises "selle francais" jumping horses so we always have lots to talk about when she around, and apparently she'll be here almost every day looking in on mom...

Also, one of my Irish(not Ken,) breeder buddies is going to winter some of his thouroughbreds and our place.  Yepee!  We could use the cash!  Will help me when I attack the last part of this circus, my horse stabulations and stalls...

Now, a little acting work and I'd really be a HAPPY CAMPER...rrCool
