Re: JG's still on the train

Yeah, I read about that, but I assumed that was because the driver in question was pedal to the metal the whole way.

even the ordeal with the train made it worth NOT driving in Chicago.  Ask dd and SH, I was cowering on the floor while driving back to ss's.  Takes a lot to make me do that lol.

Ha! If you think driving in Chi-town is bad, try driving in Miami! There are a LOT of people down here who don't even have a license. Or turn signals. Or fear of death, apparently.

    Update on Reno

Most of you know by now Reno went to Missy's owner on trial as a horse for her grandson to ride when he comes to visit and is spending the summer in upstate NY. Karen has called me twice in the past two weeks to report 1) Reno trailered the 1200 miles like a pro, and 2) handled the deep wooded trails on his first long ride (15 miles) in at least 2 years in championship style. "I LOVE this horse!" were her exact words. He's getting tons of attention and multiple daily grooming and handling, something he really needed to come out of his shell.

I was pretty sure Reno and Karen would be a good match when I hooked them up. I'm happy to report I was right. ~FH

Although all of us are worried about one of our horses "leaving home", when they go to the right person it must be a relief and a good feeling. Good job, Skip!

Aww, fh, I am so glad to read that -- even though Reno didn't end up staying with you, it looks like you were the instrument of him getting to go to a much better place where he can be loved on to his heart's content.  There are so many sad stories out there about horses changing homes to the detriment, it gives me hope every time I get to see one that moved into awesomeness.

Even MORE good news.... Jewel stood for a trim on ALL FOUR FEET today! She finally took her full weight on the bad leg so we could get to the good one with the nippers. Up until now, it's only been a brief bit of rasping on that right front for the past 8 months. She never once tried to take the good leg back either. It'll take a few more trims to get that hoof back to where it should be but we're on our way at last! I'm sure getting her square in the front again will have more therapeutic effects toward getting her a little more sound.

Skip, you must have gotten a whole truck load of good karma dumped on you by finding the right person for Reno, and Jewel standing on her injured leg for the first time was the payback!

That's great news FH,  and I'm sure you're right.  Getting her squared up in front will go a long way to getting her sound.  If you've only been able to do one, and the other is grown out, it's got to be similar to a woman trying to walk with one broken heel on her shoe.  Not easy. Things will be easier for her once she's evened up.

Day 6... JG has had enough of "staying quite" and house arrest... Told my friend that she needed to load up 2 of her spur broke horses and come pick me up so we could go ride.  Being spur broke I don't need to use my hands at all!!!!  lol I"m now starting to see a plus in this spur broke stuff!!! lol

I'll be in chat... someone please entertain me... we have 150+ channels on tv and there is nothing to watch...

WOOT!!! got out of the house yesterday.. even drove for a bit.  My dear loving friend came and picked me up and took me to dinner.  Then after getting back to the house I jumped in the drivers seat and drove over to my hay guys to get a round bale.  lol, driving never felt so good!!!

*side note* dr told me when I had been 24 hours pain pill free I could drive and I was about 22 hours out when I drove so it was ok.  lol

ETA:  I even got in a little horsey nose thearpy. Went out to pet them and give them a once over.

    Re: Update on Reno... PLUS!!!

Hey all!!!! FH, awesome news on Reno. So glad that you can rest easy knowing he's in such a great home. Hopefully they'll keep giving you updates and photos.

JG - Just be sure you don't over due it so everything heals up nicely. ROFL, don't want to have lumps and bumps.

We've finally been repreaved from our June/July drought. Things are greening back up. My normally lush pasture was down to the nitty gritty and I had to feed hay to the beasty's. I hope things keep going good so the pasture has time to get back to normal. Haven't really been riding all that much. I hope to get me some free time so I can catch up on the riding. Saturday is a clinic I'd like to go and watch but DH is ripping off the front porch so I may have to stay home and help him. I've been to one of this guys cowboy races to watch but have not seen him put on a clinic. It might be something to take Glis to but I'd like to see how he conducts the clinic first before I take her.

    Re: Update on Reno... PLUS!!!

Had my one we post op check up yesterday.   Dr says I"m healing great.  I don't have to go back for a week and a half.  He told me I can start going for walks to rebuild my stamina.  Wonder if sitting on a walking horse counts?!?!?! lol.  Also told me I can pretty much resume normal activities just take it easy.

So.. in resuming normal activities. I have to drive the kidlet to the dr today as he woke up with an ear infection... yipee.  lol
