Okay, I have a few threads going about my roley poley Arab. A few have replied that they too have fatty's and it was mentioned that we could keep track of our obese friends in a thread.
I just want to see these fat horses to compare to George. I've never seen George in shape and quite frankly I think he will always be a bit of a beef cake Arab. I really just want him healthy.
So lets see those fat horses.

Here is George...needing to lose about 100 lbs. but I'm just guessing since pygmysong says he needs to lose more than 50 based on this pic.

He may be a tad "thick" but I wouldn't consider him 100 pds overweight! In fact I think he's gorgeous. Loosing 50 pounds would make him ideal IMO. I would rather them be a little too healthy than too thin especially in the winter time. Summer can be an exception b/c too much weight can cause more serious issues when there is unlimited grass to munch on!

Here is a pic of Wolfy (this is the only pic I have on the net at the moment...so not the best to show his tummy!) he is pretty chunky but he is also a bigger framed horse. I would like him to loose a little weight, but as JCarot mentioned I am not too concerned at the moment as we have a pile of snow and cold temps!!

Your horse isn't hairy enough to compare with mine! If Pitch ever gets Cushings he will look like an Afghan hound! If I can find him under the fluff I will try to get a picture. I don't have any from a couple of months ago when he was at his fattest, but he still has more to lose.

My old pony got really tubby at one point. 8 on the fat scale, baby!

Oh, those creases on his barrel are definately not ribs. They are fat ripples.

Thats funny, cause before I scrolled down to the writing under the picture I thought those were ribs that I could see!!!!

OK look at that pony, imagne lots more body hair (since it's winter, he's sleek in summer), lots less tail hair, smaller head and shorter back and that's about what Pitch looks like now. Every time someone asks his breed they don't believe me he's full TB. He's my little teddy bear, and very fuel-efficient!

If you want to see fat, just look at Scout. I don't have the talent to put pictures on here but they are in my gallery. I have picture of him when I first got him and then there are some from this past summer. He is a big fat pig. I am hoping to get him trimmed down this year. That is if I can get myself on a schedule. My life always seems a little on the hectic side.

Though, he just has a ROUND barrel..even when he is a good weight, where you can feel his ribs when you press on his side, he still has that overly round look to him lol.

He is on a diet, and has been for awhile. He is being fed grain once a day, just so he will leave me alone and not make me feel guilty lol. He gets 2 measuring cups of 10% protein 3% fat pellets, and then a cup of BOSS..he looves BOSS lol, his new fave treat. Then of course the horses split a bale of hay a day. I put a half bale of Timothy/Alfalfa out in the morning, and the other half out at night. They are like 70-80lb bales.

I'm a member of the fat horse owner's club lol!

He has lost a LITTLE weight since I got him, it's easier to feel his ribs than it was when I got him. He still has some slimming down to do though

On a funny note I have actually had some people think George was a QH at first glance.

Star is way overweight. Last time I worked her in the round pen with a saddle on it was slipping round her middle constantly. Putting her on a diet is impractical because she gets fed in the field and she just makes her way along the row of buckets, moving the other horses out of the way as she goes!

Jayne when do you plan on sending me Star? She looks like she'd make a nice pair with my dad's peggy. They look to be built similar..from pics anyway lol. I'll be waiting for her to arrive

This is a horse that I rode last summer...Fergie. She's a Dutch WB, Connemara, TB.

And just to give a little perspective, this was after I'd been riding her for a while, and she was the thinnest she's been in a looooong time
