thank you for the reality check. there's a reason for "the grass is always greener on the other side".

i have been trying for the past 6 months to entertain  my convalesing horse to  no avail.  new rule...hang toys and whatever just out of reach outside the stall.  make him think it\s not for him and he'll get hours of joy trying to reach it.

That's funny Gailforce!  My new 3-year old wants to play with everything but what I hang on his stall.  He even dislodged the bars on his stall to reach the halters and lead ropes I had hanging on his blanket rack.  Chewed each one of them and ignored the ball I had hanging for him!  He is very curious!

Heaven would no heaven be, were a horse not waiting there for me.

yes, totally....i can't leave anything close to his reach.  you come in the morning and there's the halter, ropes, towels, blankets, everything laying on the floor.  but, the ball hanging in his stall...meh!

and some of those things didn't seem to be in his reach when i left the barn....

She's a great artist with a fun sense of humor.  I can relate to so many of her cartoons, as can most of us, probably.

Milk jugs with rocks in them.
water bottles with enough scrunch in them so when they bite them it makes a noise.
an old lead rope, mine love to play with these and leg straps and halters they find and can swing around.

Mine never play with actual horse toys, the items we dont want them to have they have hours of fun with.

I had riley in a stall 7 days in August for the fair, water bottles were his main toys, that and putting an apple in his full water bucket and letting him try to get it.

Without my horse, im just human. Without me, my horse is just an animal. But when you put us together we become an unstoppable team!
