I am a 29 year old female living "the dream" in Florida with my husband, my dog and my horse (and a friend's horse) on 3 1/2 acres.
I grew up in Virginia, where I started English riding (hunt-seat equitation and hunter/jumpers) when I was 6. I continued riding until I was 18 and, through unfortunate family circumstances) had to stop.
In late November 2006, while still living in VA and engaged to my future husband, I began taking lessons again (hunters) and fell in love with the horse, Heineken, who I later bought, in March 2007.
Heineken, my "Diamond in the Rough" at the time, had been rescued about 1 year before I met him and had had 3 owners before I bought him. He was thin, full of tapeworms (Equimax, anyone?) and very green for a 6 year old. We started to bond immediately and my husband couldn't resist him when he greeted my husband (upon their introduction) with some friendly sniffs, including the sniffing of his shoes. My husband immediately exclaimed, "He's like a big dog!" and I agreed.
When my husband received a job offer in FL, we decided to move there and brought Heineken with us. We've been in FL now for 2 years now. Throughout our time here, I have tried a few different trainers and boarded my horse at a few different places until we were able to finally rent a beautiful property for an affordable price (with a big, beautiful paddock full of oak trees, a basic but sufficient barn and a cute, octagon-shaped house.
After living on our farm for a few months, we adopted a beautiful, sweet American bulldog named Lady.
