  • Re: Breeches size compared to jean size

I was going to say you're probably a 27 or 28. When I wore a size 6 I was a 28 in both jeans (that used the inch system) and breeches, AND I'm shorter than you by quite a bit. LOL at buying a saddle but not some breeches btw. :D

  • Re: Jumping Issues

I suggest you have his back checked by a chiropractor (I suggest one over a vet because in my experience, vets can tell where pain can be or stitch wounds etc... but they're not as specialized in this area at fixing the pain.) You have to make sure your pony isn't in pain either in his back or in his mouth. I think having his teeth done once a year at his age is probably a good idea. At least getting them looked at anyhow. You need to fix the rushing issue, which would probably help increase

  • Re: Age to start jumping young horse

It is old enough for jumping but IMO not old enough to be jumping that height. For that horse I'd be at 2'6 max, once every couple months and jumping at most once a week on cross rails and 2'. I recently went to a clinic of Greg Best. I found him to be a wonderful clinician and he was asked when he started his horses jumping. He said at age 2, if over poles on the ground and 6" high is considered jumping. Essentially when the horse has even 3-4 rides on it's back (so 30 days

  • Re: Hunter and Jumper Apparel

I ended up with a mint green shirt (so a pastel green.) I think it looks nice but I'm having a hard time getting a good picture of it so I need someone that can operate my camera to do it. LOL I will show you tho, I promise! As per boots, I really prefer to use half chaps. I have a nice pair of paddock boots I just bought for a great deal at spruce this year and since local showing is the max I want to do, half chaps will work. Thanks for the info though! ps.. the half lease fell through since

  • Re: Horse Show "Moms"-rant

Just hearing about that makes my blood boil. I would have walked up to her and gave her what for. Told her that her poor child was only trying the best she could and if she was too much of a female dog to understand it she should just leave. Tell her that she's making herself look like a horrible person and mother. Maybe she'd think about it then. It's just emotional abuse and the poor girl didn't need it. My mom calmed me down and cheered me on, never yelled at me unless I was being

  • Re: WESTERN PLEASURE ISSUES...

I think just continually working on it and stopping after good times is the best thing. They need to build the muscle and it comes with time. At least you know she can do it properly and isn't just faking it ;) Les Vogt would be an awesome person to get a clinic with! I'm jealous. LOL

  • Re: Is this horse for real??

I've been around halter horses (I did my internship in California at an Appy National and World championship halter barn) and while I've seen some BIG horses, none of them looked like that. I've never seen a broodmare look like this, even ones who had show careers. I'm thinking the photo has been played with or there is something wrong with her.

  • Re: Hunter and Jumper Apparel

thanks for the tips. I think it's a warm brown because of the burgandy plaid in it (however subtle it is) and it has reddish buttons. I guess I'll just have to go try a few on in a store and see how it goes, even if I end up ordering online. Good idea on making sure I get some sort of sleeve just in case. I was thinking of sleeveless too but the options there are limited.

  • Re: Help! I rode for years, why can't I now?

I agree, it has to do with being a mom. When I first became a mom I was terrified to do all sorts of things with my horse. It was probably a good thing she wasn't broke yet because I had to do all that ground work with her and that helped get me used to being around horses again. I never did ride her, but I was much more comfortable and by the time I sold her, I kept wondering "why didn't I ride her?" Haha. I think spending time with your horse will help you develop that bond more
