  • Re: EPM - Diagnosis, Treatment

I don't know a lot about EPM, but there was a girl on my equestrian team whose horse developed it. She said one day they saw her just trotting along in the pasture and all of sudden she stumbled and fell. She said at the time she didn't really think much about it, but after she thought it was strange because normally horses don't just fall. Anyway, the horse ended up being diagnosed with EPM, and they took it to a vetrinary hospital ( i think it was a university or something) and they tried to help

  • Re: Raleigh, NC area people

Yea, I looked already and was having a hard time finding something in a price range I could afford. Most were asking about $500/month. I guess it was a big wake up for me cause I'm from PA and boarding there is about $200/mo. Anyway, I was just curious if anyone had any pointers for me! Thanks!

  • Raleigh, NC area people

Just wondering if there is anyone out there is this area. I just moved to the area and am considering getting a horse soon, and thought maybe someone in the area could give me some pointers on where to board, riding trails, etc.

  • Re: Just asking-do you use verbal commands

WOW! I've never heard anyone say that. Actually one of the things my teachers always told me was that I needed to use verbal commands more, cause usually I'm very quiet. I mean don't think you should sit there and tell you horse your whole life story while your riding, because it's too much for them to concentrate on. However, i totally believe you should use voice commands....it can help alot!

  • makeshift halter

Can anyone explain to me how to make a makeshirt halter, like out of a lead rope or something. I've seen ppl do it but I've never quite figured out how to do it myself. I figured it's probably a good thing to know in case of an emergency. Thanks!

  • Re: North Carolina Boarding Facilties??

There is actually a yahoo group for North and South Carolina horse people. Some people emailed me back regarding boarding on that site, one was in fuquay, the other one was in apex, and then there was another one somewhere else. Anyway they were alot cheaper! If you want I will pm their email addresses. Let me know!

Well, I live in Apex (which is by raleigh), about a mile away from the intersection on 1 and 64. I'm not sure if you know where that is, but if you live nearby you probably do. I just moved here so I have no idea where Southern Pines is. I really don't want to drive farther than 30 min, but I might if the board is cheaper.
