I can remember using them when I used to work in the back of restaurant as well many yrs ago, and the farm was not as bad as the restaurant conditions were by comparison. Eventually the soles seperated and had to get rid of them. They were ugly and you wouldn't use them in shows, but since work boots are designed to be used in nasty environments, they would naturally hold up better. Frank

How about Dennis the Menace. Frank

[quote user="DarwinBeth"]Just to clarify Archie is already a gelding! Sorry for the confusion of the earlier post! Unfortunately no bits to remove! I really appreciate everyone's comments! The previous owners (who we know quite well and don't have naything to gain by lying) state they have never had this issue with him. He was previously stabled with another gelding in a paddock and prior to that in a small stable/herd situation at a riding school.FYI - We spent a few hours at the

Megan, When I still had Mystic (he's gone now for at least 3 yrs now), since he was a stallion, he had to learn when NOT to show his "member" at the wrong time, I would give him a good tap, expecially if he was REALLY excited, to remind him that it wasn,t the right time, even if tempted, which he was on occasion. You hit just enough to make it sting, but not so hard to hurt. When they get that excited, you have to make an impression! He never had any problems using it after getting

Solo, See my reply to Megan above. Yes, he was, with a wicked sense of humor, but we got along very well. It also helped that I had him since he was 6 months old, and we (Jan and I) taught him manors. I was in on his training as much as possible, and Jan did the rest. Frank

Jayne, I remember showing Mystic in that arena (VA Horse Park) in a grooms class, where Mystic decided that I wasn't ready to go faster than a walk. Refused to go to a running walk or canter, even when Jan yelled instructions to kick him, kick him, which I did, and he still refused to do. Wouldn't come out of a walk. She was showing him in other classes with no problems, and later on he did canter for me as well. I think he thought I wasn't ready for primetime yet since this was the first

Jayne, When Jan yelled out Kick him!! Kick him!! Everybody started laughing. It was kinda embarassing. Later on that year we were in a local show and we won the not ready for primetime riders class and we won that. I also cantered him later on so I think he thought I just wasn't ready yet. You have to remember he was a stallion, and he showed well during that show. This was a major naturally gaited show in the mid-atlantic area. So, I think he just thought I wasn't ready yet. He was special

jayne, You're quite welcome. I think this is one of the reasons I think that Mystic and I had bonded. I think I mentioned a long time ago about the first time Mystic had gone off the farm for a 2 day clinic, and he wouldn't eat the grain there the first time until I fed it to him by hand. Frank

Jayne, I should clarify your reference, Jayne,. I don't think it was Mystic's first show, but MY FIRST time riding HIM in a show!!! LOL!!! CAPS for emphasis. LOL!!! Glad I could spark something. For my embarassing moment, for everyone else, see the end of the halloween costume thread, unless Jayne wants to copy and paste. LOL!!! I make enough typing errors as it is!!! LOL!!! Frank
