Thanks Jayne, but I've tried all that already and it persists. I shouldv'e been clear when I initially posted. As I said before, I've got a stalker/ troll and am worried my account may have been hacked.. perhaps we should take this to PM..

Sorry if this is foggy or completely, downright wrong - Have been up for 36 hours. Isn't there something called 'big head' syndrome related to calcium toxicity? Something to do with cal/phos ration that gets thrown outf wack when only alfalfa is fed? Or was that rice bran.. in which case, please disregard... Carry on.

Sorry if this is in the wrong spot. I haven't been here in literally years, and when I returned this morning I found the 'full envelope' icon next to my Inbox. I clicked on it, but got this message: "No posts due to a filter" I would've posted this in "Frequently asked questions", but wasn't allowed to post there. Moderators, plz feel free to move this at will. I'm concerned because I've had an internet/hacker troll/ stalker, and wonder if they've

Quote: The foal isn't mine and I talked it over with the man I bought my mare from. He boarded there last year and has since put his horses on some acreage he has. It's not suitable for a pregnant mare though or I would put her there. I told him about getting my own hay and feed. I really do see this horse every day morning and night and last night in 8 inches of snow and sleet I had my husband help me drive 8 miles to fill her trough with steaming water to bring it to more palatable temperature

Your boarding facility is beyond dangerous. I can't comment beyond that and keep my anger toward the BO/ BM in check. Get out NOW while your horse & her foal are still alive.

As usual, I've been misunderstood on so many counts, when I was simply trying to offer advice based upon my own experience. 1) My 'very expensive area' (Lower Fairfield County, CT; ie: "The Gold Coast") charges minimum $700 for both hocks injected, 1 joint each. You can check pricing with FairfieldEquine.com. Then again, perhaps *using them* is from where the expense originates? 2) Never meant the OP didn't want to spend the $60, but that the vet was recommending skipping over the basic, first course

Sorry, hon. You don't. Some horses just get pushy/ agressive when they're hand fed. If I treat my horse Doc just ONCE, I lose his attention for the next 15 minutes. Period. I simply cannot hand feed him treats. And it pisses me off when other boarders do so without my permission... WHILE I'M STANDING RIGHT THERE. Keep up with the kind words, and find a favorite itchy spot. That's plenty reward for in hand work. And of course, put the treats in her feed tub.

Youv'e got some great suggestions here, but I might add, bring an extra halter & lead rope, and a large jug of water from home so your horse will gladly drink if he's picky & thirsty while away. Remember, also, to pack your first aid kit, and a trailer jack as well as an extra hitch & ball (if you're doing your own shipping)

Your vet is going for the most expensive option as resolution to the changes in your horse's hocks. I don't like that. Have you tried Legend or Adequan first? Also, I don't understand the logic behind not wanting to spend $60 on a good joint supplement, but you're considering spending $600+ for a procedure that may or may not work, and then, only last six months to a year. Weight loss is good, yes. Lots of t/o is good too. But honestly, get some CortaFlex liquid with HA, and use that for a month

I see no problem worming half the herd with one type of wormer and the other with another. It's important (as you know) to rotate wormers, which your'e doing. If you're still uncertain, ask your vet.
