A clown. Add spots of many colors and a big red nose - you in a clown suit also either riding, leading or having him pull you on a skid.

Considering that it took you and Gu twice as long to make it up the hill IF you hadn't behind his lazy big white butt when he thought he needed stop to rest - yeah you know him!

Major breakthru yesterday! K. (son's girlfriend - a real 'keeper') has been coming out for a while now to ride Doe. She has ridden some as a small child but is a bit of a timid rider - Doe loves timid riders as he is very lazy. I'm quite vocal (loud and strong) when lungeing him and have tried to get her to be a little bit 'strong' with him. Yesterday she was at one end of the arena lungeing him while son and Hubby were at the other with Jelly Bean, I was over at the stalls doing something when I

I was raised with the notion that straight alfalfa would kill horses - so said all the Vets in my area way back then. When we moved from NE FL to NW WA in '82 I had enough hay with me that should have lasted til we got to Whidbey Island - unfortunately we had some truck problems in MO and were on the road too long and ran out of hay in WY. The only hay I could find at the feed stores off the interstate was alfalfa. To my great surprise (and relief) the horses not only didn't die on it but did find

Quote: It is estimated that half of all foals and up to 90% of all adult horses have gastric ulcers. The Vet from CSU that talked about ulcers at BH Expo last March gave the figures in reverse. He said that possibly/probably up to 90% of foals will develope ulcers when weaned and 40 - 60% of adults have (or have had) ulcers as adults.

Has it been going on for a long time or has it just started? Age of the horse? Previous use? Bred? It may be someting to worry about or it may not. I would call my Vet and talk with her to see if she felt he needed to be seen by her or not. A good 'working' relationship with your Vet is imparative IMO. The first thing that came to my mind is possibly early COPD.

Not all the time but sometimes. Not as much now as at times in the past when I had less horses to get worked daily. Sometimes a good work in the am will get a nice casual pm hack. A bad work in the am may get another work in the pm. Just depends.

The refreshment stand is selling the beer is part of the complex - actually directly in the middle of the complex.

Last night Hubby and I went to watch son's GF's softball game (adult coed). (Still haven't figured out the rules after last week.) It's at a city/county softball complex. What I found very surprising was that it was basically a "drunk X". It seems that when anyone strikes out, they are expected to go to the refreshment stand and buy 18 beer cans ($20) for the team. Towards the end of the second game, the team captain/pitcher was definately "in his cups" (old term for blitzed, schnockered, drunk)
