  • Re: petition against rollkur

I have to say I'm on the fence on this issue. And I fully admit that it is because I feel that I can't make a 100% educated decision on it. While I would never use this method on my horses, I can't say that it is always a cruel practice. I have listened to the logic on both sides of the argument, and I think that without having seen it done by a professional top rider and seen the results first hand, then I cannot seriously say that I understand this training method. As with ANY form

  • Re: Payment plan contract

Equine.com has some good samples to look at. Here is one for an installment sale: http://www.equine.com/help/docs/SellerFormInstallmentSale-WithPossessionDate.pdf

  • Re: Ugh! Stolen horse?!

I really hope you can get this resolved. It would be nice to think she wouldn't be so mean-spirited as to make you hire a lawyer.

  • Re: Please recommend your equine insurance agency!

I found Hallmark Equine Insurance to be quite reasonable in their pricing. I've also been impressed with their customer service so far. However, I have yet to file a claim with them, so I have no input there. My barn owner uses them, too, and has had no complaints.

  • Re: Ridiculous Spooks

Hilarious topic! Years ago, Arizen spooked at a dot of light on the floor. Took it as a 3ft jump! She also is very particular about poop. She doesn't spook at it, but she's very tidy and doesn't like to step in it... unless its her own, of course!

I'm confused.... If we're talking about a sale, and your mother-in-law has given you money for the horse (which you accepted) and is taking care of the upkeep on the horse, then he is her horse.. not yours. A written/signed bill-of-sale is not necessary for this transaction to be legal. But I'm confused on the intent of the transaction. Was this meant to be a lease? a loan? a sale? Each situation may have different legal implications and your best bet is to contact a lawyer if you can't

  • Re: You know you're loved when...

What cute stories! I will never forget the time that I fell off my friend's horse when Rizzie was on "maternity leave" and had to get stitches. When I got back to the barn after that, I went out to see her and she saw me with a huge ice pack on my eye. She must have known something was wrong because she walked right up to me (away from her hay and friends), which she never does, and stood there and just let me rub her face. It was the defining moment for me, and I knew I made the right
