Kinda, sorta sounds like my filly. She's done it since I got her at 4 months of age (she'll be 2 in April).

Why is she stiff and sore?? How old is she? Is she arthritic? Has she got some medical problems? Conformation problems? Why does she need "warm up" exercises? Every horse should be "warmed up" to some degree especially in winter anyway. You need to find out what her actual problem is and deal with it. Medicate her, make her a pasture ornament, whatever. And breeding is not the solution either if she is painful. Even if you are able to solve her pain issues, is she really worth

Send them the garbage for sure! I can't believe people can't appreciate having a place to ride and abuse the privilege like that. Wish I had some cool places to ride . . . Maybe you could get a large group of riders together to follow the ride, ride alongside them, and clean up after them as they dump it. Possibly they'd be embarrassed enough to stop . . .

My mare has "loose stifles". She never limps. She will "stumble" behind and sometimes almost fall--kinda lurches. She needs regular work with lots of trotting and hills. One vet told me if I lived on the side of a mountain, that'd be ideal for her, lol!!

I use pine shavings. They are also very dusty but do the trick--my girls are rarely stalled.

hmm, well I'd guess you'd only get muscle from work, but you might get some shine with a flax seed supplement. My mare has always been shiny with nothing special but I have them both on a flax supplement right now just for health. I don't notice them being SUPER shiney now, lol!!!

Is she a hard keeper? Just wondering why she's on grain at all if she's not being ridden hard. My yearling gets 1/2 scoop once daily of her feed just because she's a baby--technically she's supposed to have more but she's got enough weight on her so I don't give her as much. The mare gets nothing but her supplements. They both have more energy than they know what to do with!!

hahaha! in the spring, of course!! after all their "bridges" of manure/hay/trampled snow finally melt. soon as spring is in full bloom, they get moved off that particular pasture so it can melt and start to come back to life a bit. why pick it up in 5 feet of snow? seems crazy!

Wait til spring for any areas near barn and in shelter. Rest of it gets spread out with the harrow. I don't intend to spend a billion hours scooping . . . .

Yeah, mine are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, get monthly revolution, occasional deworming especially for tapes, have expensive (I work for a vet) food/water, and sleep in the house at times, lol!! That's why I've only got a total of 4 cats, 3 of 'em barn cats! Would be nice to see them catching more mice though, that's why I got the 3rd barn kitten . . . I keep my fingers crossed they stay away from the road every day.
