My guy gets itchy tail in the summer... I know its cold now, but I usually rub Swat into the base of his tail, and mane too. He stopped rubbing and his hair started growing back.. if he had mites or other organisms itching him, the Swat seemed to work. Out of season now maybe, but just a suggestion!

Thanks for all the stories guys.. really you all mentioned things I had worried about. We found a barn we really like thats available for renting, we are just waiting to hear back from the owner. I guess we will just see if that plays out.. Even though there are so many "what if's" I really want to give something like this a try. There seems to be some good pluses. I just hope everyone can get a long.. I've been through similiar issues just renting a house with other people It can take some work

Hello! We used to board in Alpharetta until about June of this year when our barn was closed due to developers So we all moved to where we are now in Cumming, GA. We just cant seem to find any good fits in our *price range* in the Alpharetta/Cumming area. Its a bummer. We are all pleasure riders so its either no frills or places that are just too fancy or TOO far away. Anyways, you made some points that I've been thinking about. I'm just afraid everyone will mean well, but things just come up ya

We have thought about renting a barn as a co-op. My one concern is that morning feedings will be the hardest to cover and though we are saying we can just rotate weekly, I'm just afraid that if someone cannot keep that commitment then it will cause headaches for everyone else. Has it turned out for anyone that

Great link Walkin, So far it hasnt gotten too bad yet. Last year, long story short, he was pasture boarded and supposed to be grained twice a day at that time he was also fly sprayed. The lady running the barn decided that she wasnt going to grain the pasture horses anymore, which meant no fly spray. I was only able to get there once or twice a week, but he had been there for over a year at that point and his care was good, so I didnt worry. So I wont ramble, her place went down hill, I moved him

I'm thinking about putting an order in to Jeffers so maybe I'll try that spray. I was looking at a fly sheet they have on sale, it only comes in dark colors though and I wondered if it would make him too hot attracting the sun. I'm going to my local bargain barn this week to see what I can find there. Thanks!
