Look on horsetopia.com in the classifieds. There are a bunch! http://horsetopia.horse-for-sale.org/sho...70a3fef502d4c76 I did it for the Milton area. Scroll down a bunch, it also shows surrounding states.

I know what you mean about the amount given. Seems so little for such big animals. I have only used mine (so far) in the winter. Soaked them in warm water and only fed them once a day. I only had one horse (in this state anyway) back then and he had round bales in his pasture. I do have to board and don't think it was the greatest quality hay, so I guess I gave him the cubes for my own peace of mind. I now have 3 boys here. (brought the other two from California in the Spring.) I am worried about

Thanks for the very informative links. I had read a little about EPSM in the past, but the info you had was great! He is a Quarter horse, in the family for about 10 years. He was bought at an auction so we don't know his history before that. He's been a sweetheart since day one. He's mainly been a trail horse. A few gymkhana's and Team Penning for fun. Thanks again for your help. Will let you know what the blood test say. (crossing fingers!)

12 hours later....he's normal! I went out to feed this morning (I board a few miles away from home), and there Cisco was, his normal self. Out with his brothers, bossing them around like always. They all came running up from the back pasture, Cisco looked like nothing ever happen to him. Lope/trot/walk all like normal. Wierd....but VERY HAPPY to see him doing better!! The vet did draw blood last night. He said he would hold onto it to see if I wanted him to run it. I think I will have him do it anyway

Short history... I brought Cisco (approx 18 yrs old) out to KY from California in May. He's my Dads horse, but is now retired...the horse, that is. So Cisco has been living the good life. Running with his 2 brothers on tons of acres and is doing great. Last ride (2 wks ago) he started to get sore in the right front leg after about an hour (the longest ride he had been on in a while). But no pain back in the pasture and was "normal" til tonight. I went out to feed tonight and Cisco was off by himself

No advice...sorry. But am interested in what advice you do get. We also have a big hay shortage. (Driving 200 miles to buy hay...and hope the guy has some more!) So I went out and bought every bag of cubes TSC had in stock...figure they can sit around til Winter, if I need them. Have you noticed any changes in your horses? Wondering if they are a little more hot being just on alfalfa. I'll keep checking your post!

I love talking to non-horsey people; as soon as they find out you have horses, they think your rich! Umm, nope! Just the opposite!

I was basically forced to sell my horse by my Dad. He said he wouldn't pay for a horse to be sitting around in a corral for nothing. (There was no way I could take her with me.) Turns out (as I found out many years later) it was his way of trying to make me stay home and go to college there. I was 17, in love and STUPID!! I moved to be with some dumb guy and gave up the best thing in the world...my horse! If you can find a way to keep her, I would. I know $$ is a big issue. If you can't keep her

I showed MANY years ago. Best piece of advice...have fun and stay calm no matter what your horse may do. My QH flipped out in the ring one day...of course right in front of the judge. My first thought, "Well, there goes that blue ribbon!" So I just took it in stride and carried on. We ended up with first!! Judge said to me she liked the way I handled things. (maybe the competition wasn't the best either...just a little local show). But we had fun and went home with the blue ribbon!

Thanks for all your good information!! I had never heard of a couple types of hay and you answered my questions. I've got very easy keepers and sounds like brome would be ok for them. Like I said before I have a guy that has good bermuda, but it is a 3 hour drive each way, and we have to load ourselves. Finding hay closer is a little better (hence the questions as to what Teff and brome are--that's all I have seen around here lately.) Thanks so much for your help!
