  • Re: Party Day

RC - you are just too lucky with finding new homes for your horses and then filling up your barn again with other nice horses. I'm really thinking you should adopt me - or at least sell Surprise for me!! A lady was interested in her but then bought another horse before she even scheduled a visit - oh well.... The weekend is upon us - hip hip hooray!!! Not too much scheduled - horse time of course, I have to buy some pies for a pie eating contest and then on Sat night I am chaperoning a dance

Gosh FH, you let Jewel have the most interesting friends over to play! But a paint pig - who woulda thought??? Think you might have to desensitize her to solid color pigs now?? Some goofball teenage girls near the barn somehow managed to get their dog into one of the pastures - that was not a pretty picture. The arab mare in there was flying, zooming and snorting all over the pasture as the dog barked it's head off, the girls were screaming their dog was going to be killed while Surprise stood

  • Re: Lame, grrr....

I did forget to mention that Blue doesn't let go of the bit when I unbridle him - he chews on it for awhile and finally drops it as I sstand there waiting so as not to yank it out of his mouth. He is just weird - but then I have told you all that before.

  • Re: Lame, grrr....

When you guys have the time please take a look at "chomping the bit" under the English area and tell me what you think, please. Blue is a chomper but he goes along well for the most part, he readily accepts the bit (as in lowers his head and opens his mouth as soon as it gets anywhere near him), follows rein cues or follows leg cues. He also likes to chew on the leadrope or the reins - he isn't allowed todo that but he does grab them occassionally. Some days it is more pronounced than

Bucks - another time I thought of you was when I was worming the horses yesterday - Blue couldn't care less but Surprise was definitly like your picture and thought worms would taste better. Lucky kids get probiotics today and since it is 60 and sunny I am going to spend the whole afternoon with them - lunging for respect, hand grazing and riding for sure!! HURRAY!! RC - are you MIA again???

  • Re: BAD BAD Blue (the horse)

RC - we were chatting as usual this evening and the name "Spinner" came up as a possibility for your new 4 legged ride. Continuing with the Wheel of Fortune theme there is also Vannah (but Blue, the woman, took that) and Vowel, Alex (oops!! I mean Pat), Bankrupt, etc etc.... good thing we didn't stay in chat real long PS - Remmer: another great picture as your sig - 4 horses in a backyard - tell us about it.

  • Re: tall boots?

If you haven't bought tall boots yet - look at VTO Saddlery and see what they offer. My daughter bought a pair of synthetic boots there over 3 years ago for about $50 and they look, fit, and wear well. What was the brand you ask?? Hmmm - good question - maybe DevonAire. As a teenager she has used them hard without much care and they still look great. VTOsaddlery.com also has reasonable and quick shipping and always has a lot of clearance items.

  • BAD BAD Blue (the horse)

Congrats to RC who has some great news with her new mount as rr and I bemoan ours. rr I share your pain - but I not thinkng of eating horse tomorrow. Blue actually bucked me off yesterday - I think because he didn't want to trot and canter in the arena and I didn't react quick enough with a one rein stop as he was being so spastic I thought he was going to fall over if I pulled his head around and then it was too late and I flew off. The bugger took off at top speed out the arena gate, tearing

  • Re: Joined the ranks

I was just wondering when the clocks had to be set back...so I guess it is now the first Sunday in November. We will all be messed up again and have to shift schedules. SS - I am totally surprised to hear that you joined the ranks of the unemployed - that came right out of the blue!! Bummer. Though as JG said - at least you went straight to the barn! You all have talked about making grape jam so much that I am craving some! The other thing you talk about is aspens turning golden - there are a few

  • Re: "Ahhhhhh....!"

Glad to hear you are getting the new Arab, RC and some more training - lucky you! Personally I have never done a vet check. I understand and agree with the reasons pro and con but always figured that even if the vet check is fine I could have an injury occur from the trailering or a condition start up within a few days of arriving home. Knock on wood - so far so good. I wonder sometimes though if our first horse, Mercedes, had some sort of heart or other hidden condition that she died so suddenly
