I work at a stable part-time where they feed paprika to their palominos in the spring/summer. It seemed to make them more golden. I believe they just put a few shakes on top of the grain (not sure of exact amount, not much though). It didn't seem to hurt them at all. Sorry I couldn't help more.

2.24 to 36 MONTHS. Unless he’s of a slow-to-mature breed, I prefer to start ahorse sometime in his 2-year-old year. By then, a horse needs to start having ajob. I like to start horses with ground work (such as lunging and ground driving) during their two year old year. 3.3 to 4 YEARS. I believe in holding off on work under saddle until a horse is past his fast-growth-rate years. To me, it’s a future-soundness issue. I adapted to one of my horses. I wanted him to do jumping and he did it but wasn't enthusiastic about it. Pleasure and showmanship classes were out of the question (he doesn't like to go slow or stand). Two years ago we started barrel racing and he LOVES it! I am so glad I listened to him and changed what we were doing. We are both happier now because of it!
