  • Re: Great news, RC!

soooooo.... This 23 yo TW gelding that I adopted has gained about 80 or so lbs... Now that he is feeling better, he is displaying some serious aggression... My ex BIL was out scratching his chest, and the horse appeared to be very comfortable, eyes half closed, looked to me like was enjoying the scratch, and then suddenly snapped his ears flat back and bit at his face.... I can handle him, one of my adult nieces can handle him, but I just don't know if I want to feed a horse thru the winter that

Thanks FH. We have been doing some serious round penning type exercises, being the one to make HIS feet move, not ours, yes, I pinned my ears and gave him a couple of blows on his shoulder with the flat of my foot, and guarded a bucket of grain until he showed submission and asked permission to come in. I make sure that I have something close at hand just incase he gets nasty with me, and I maintain an aggressive body posture, and he seems to be responding. The vet will be out on Wednesday, and I

  • Re: Kleenex warning...

Jg, that is so incredibly sad. I can't imagine being in that position. I think it is a good decision for Jenna though, because if you tried to rehome Jenna, I am certain that she would end up in bad circumstances. Even if you gave her away as a pasture pet, someone would get hurt, and then her decline would start. It is totally the best thing all the way around. I am sorry that it will be hard on you though.

  • Re: Catching a run-away horse

I don't see treats as baiting, but I have been accused of over treating. :) Lastnight I went out with no treats, had a crowd, 1 halter and fly spray. I sprayed both the youngest first, and when done, they did not leave, while I sprayed Sassy who was not haltered. Nobody left, they just hung out. I must be doing something right, LOL.... But I go out and schmooze frequently, and hug and pet and scratch too. I don't ONLY go out with the intent to make them do something "work" related

  • Re: warning: photo update

That Dalen is one BEAUTIOUS pup! I LOVE his coloring. So is AMMs boy. Amm, I can't remember his name. He is gorgeous though. So far my only accomplishment this week is that I have (so far) not had anything disasterous happen, and was able to fly spray the Sassinator in the pasture without using a halter, and rode her bareback in the roundpen with no reins. I will see if I can come up with a new sig next week. I have been taking pics of my finally shed out girls. hmmmm, all girl group. I should

  • Re: how to get rid of sap

mayonnaise works really well on dried slug, which is about the stickiest gunkiest stuff known to man. Don't know how it works on pine tar, but is usually readily available. makes the coat all shiney too.

  • Re: Anyone have a Standard Poodle?

I would Love to have an SP. The breed standard is identical in all 3 (toy, min, standard) akc registries. They are very smart and loyal. I am very sorry to hear you lost both dogs. I said the same thing about big dogs, after the Rottenwieler goes, because little dogs are easier to carry in an emergency. I hope one of them fits your family.

  • Re: Breeches

I feel for your confusion. I was told that the last digit corresponded to the size..... i.e. size 34 was roughly a 14, however, the 34s I ordered were soooooo huge on me, the waist was 40"....I ended up ordering breeches 2 sizes smaller, but now the calves are really tight.... *Heavy sigh......* Good luck in your quest......
