I believe you had a special bond with the Percheron? There's a saying "When 1 door closes (the retirement of the Percheron), another 1 opens (the opportunity to ride some other horses)!!!!

I would agree some horse/donkey cross, which makes her a mule. Not sure how previous owner would know whether or not she went into heat, even if she wasn't sterile. But its likely she hasn't gone into heat, because she's sterile - which also suggests you have a mule.

Quote: Be careful when you are looking for trailers, especially in that price range. Your first priority should be finding a structurally sound trailer that will be safe for your horse. Are you willing to do some repair work on a trailer? You may need to be able to for that price range. I agree, in my area a trailer under $1000 is likely not safe for hauling livestock. I'm sure there may be other areas of the coutry where that is not the case. OP doesn't say what area s/he is looking in.

Quote: Quote: Something like that I couldn't tell if there was a number after or before, is it usually a 4 digit #? I've always understood TB tattoos to consist of a letter followed by 5 #s. yep, and horse born in 1995 would be Z. And then they start with A, again. If you take a stab at the 1st letter based on his expected age and what you can make out on the tatoo. the JC will help you. It cost $35 to do the search - before they actually do it, they usually give you limited info (ie, color, state

Quote: The truck manual says I can pull that much weight, but I guess the question is, should I? I was wondering if anyone has had the experience of using a half ton truck to pull a 3 horse gooseneck and any problems they encountered. Thanks a bunch for your input! that surprises me - many of the 1/2 ton trucks are not designed for heavy towing and hauling. That trailer sounds like it may gross out at about 9-10K fully loaded. 1 positive is getting the tongue weight over the axles via the GN, but

Quote: The beet pulp is more of a filler than anything else.... I don't consider beet pulp a filler - its an excellent source of quality complex carbohydrates.

I feed Purina Ultium, Beet Pulp, Rice Bran, and oil (corn or soy) to my OTTBs that I have in training and competition. very little grain in the feed, mostly quality carbohydrates, protein, and fat. Alfalfa is typically very palatable so should be a good choice for forage.

Do you have CANTER in CA? They are typically a good source for OTTBs.

Quote: You could get magnetic horse cut outs, then it's super easy to remove if you decide to sell. But I do think a generic horse is no big deal, would make me like the trailer better Jessi I was thinking the same thing - put the artwork on a big magnet, then it doesn't matter if you sell the trailer, you can still take the artwork with you - only you wnon't be able to put it on a new trailer if its aluminum.

PetSmart business was purchased by Country Supply . I think their fly spray $$$ are pretty reasonable - and free shipping on orders over $49.
