In moderation, not a problem. We buy the cheap freezer pops from Wal Mart and leave them in the freezer at our barn. They're cheap, and a nice treat after a ride. Cita's favorite flavors are the pink and red!
I, too, would be afraid of colic with too much ice. My solution is to fill empty 2L soda bottles (clean) with water and freeze. Be sure to remove the lid or make sure it is on tight, so your horse can't get it off. Then I put them in Choctaw's water barrel for a refreshment. Who would want hot water in this weather!
Um..."hot" water is one thing, but as far as hydration goes, horses find tepid water much much more appealing than ice

Wow! How exciting...the most exciting thing that's happened to me lately is that I won $1 on a scratch off ticket. They both look great & healthy. It's awesome that you're working with them right away. Sometimes it feels as if things are going nowhere, but after a while you'll look back and say WOW! Look how far we've come. Did you name the black one yet? Sorry I have no ideas but I'm just curious. What does Pheo think of this? Don't be cheating on my little spotted

I'm not too crazy about muzzling, only because I don't think horses get enough to drink. Yes, I know that many muzzles were DESIGNED to let a horse drink, but most horses I've seen are reluctant to do so. Unfortunately, Stewie is so fat right now that he has to wear a muzzle in his stall to prevent him from eating his bedding, but he wears it a limited # of hours, and as long as people are in the barn. We turn out at night right now, so he comes in, eats some breakfast, has a nap, and

I caught my turtle, Fatty McFatterson, snoozin on his basking rock the other day. It's really cute because Fatty is a water turtle, so he rarely gets out of the water. I love how he stretches his back legs out, you can see it in the 2nd pic. (AH! The forum cuts the pic off so you can't see it! Grrr!) When I took the 2nd picture, the flash went off, and he opened his eye halfway and gave me a dirty look. We've had the turtles for almost a year now, but they are still really tiny. Both
