  • Re: New Mustang, Sienna

You have a good shot of her brand, so you can contact the BLM to get more information about her. The brand can be read to find out her birth year and registration number. Looking at it, it appears she was born in 1998. Her registration number looks to be 578480, which would place her in Nevada, so she's not a Kiger. If you call the NV BLM, you should be able to get more information on her. She's a pretty girl. Good luck with her!

  • Re: FIRE! *again!*

I'm an "old" board member who hasn't been on it for more than a year. I happened by and saw that some people are dealing with the wildfires in California. My nonprofit dealt with a wildfire on our ranch when we lived in Nebraska. We have put up some Wildfire Support webpages at http://www.tapestryinstitute.org/wildfiresupport.html . Please feel free to email, post or tell people about these pages so that they can help people dealing with wildfire. Thanks!

  • Re: Sea Horse22

I don't have time to go entirely into this, but FH, you are wrong. *I* am the person who has been talking to SH about this, and I have resources to back up my position. Read "Man the Hunted: Primates, Predators, and Human Evolution" by Donna Hart and Robert W. Sussman. Your position is an old one that was promulgated by faulty science, and the mistaken belief that humans are outside of and above nature. As I said, read the above book. It's quite the eye-opener and is very good science. BTW, this

Congrats to you and your hubby and the minis! :-) That second picture of you, with your hair flying, is great!

  • Re: Rocky Mountain Foal Rescue

Oh no! That sounds like quite an accident. I hope she recovers quickly and that all of the remaining horses find good homes.

  • Re: Kelly-What would you do?

If you've found a great home for her, then I would give her to the people. The happiness of both Kelly and her new family is priceless, IMO.

I agree. God, it broke my heart to see that.

  • Re: Amy Tryon - 'guilty'

You know, I did a post a few pages back or perhaps it was on the other Amy Tryon thread, about the futility of continuing to argue about this. What is arguing about this accomplishing? You will not change anyone's mind. What does bringing up old memories of horses who have died tragic accidents accomplish except hurting people? The decision has been rendered in this case, and there is no appeal. As I said before, perhaps, instead of causing more pain, people could direct their energy to helping make

  • Re: Well, the colt arrived.....a bag of bones, nearly on his death bed.

What a poor little guy!! I don't know your level of horse experience, especially with rescues, so if you've done this before, then you probably don't need to know this idea. You may want to contact a local rescue or perhaps a reputable one online to get guidelines on bringing a rescue back up to weight. I know I have seen a rescue website with suggestions on this, but I can't remember the url. Crystal on this board does a lot of rescue, so she might have some ideas, too.

Wow, she had a Shaphiro baby? I bet that little guy or girl was gorgeous! She's a pretty girl. I can't wait to see more pictures of her!
