  • Re: OH NO...I got a GREAT offer....What to do?!?!

WOW! You are just an extremely lucky person I guess. I sold my paint mare, who was the love of my life, a few months ago. And I know I'd do anything to get her back or get a filly that looks just like her, but the little girl that owns her is just in love with her so It makes me somewhat happy. But, when you love something so much and you lose it, if you find something that is just like it, you want it so I can understand how the lady is feeling. It would be an amazing christmas gift for her

Well, If I were you I would definately do it!!! BUT, I would ask for references first. At least 4 or 5 people you can call to get some sort of backround check on her, just so you can be sure she means well and is not a scammer.

  • Re: Plus size rider/horse weight capacity

I was once a plus sized rider, I know how people looked at me. But, my horses were always in top condition and I was the one who ended up taking home the money! I did loose weight and I am now a healthy girl at 5'10" and 147 lbs. I must say, it is much easier to work with horses and ride at my weight now and I am well respected in the horse world whereas before i was looked down on in disgust. You are alot more agile, your balance is ALOT better and it's just easy all around. But, as

  • Re: money, money, money

give lessons to riders who are less experienced/not as skilled as you such as kids! Umm, you can put up posters/ads for petsitting/horsesitting...those are two things that I do (im 16) and I get plenty of money everymonth to pay for shows and much much more. I have a regular client right down my street who is a trainer and he has me take care of his horses when he's at shows every other weekend (he usually pays me $20/day Wednesday-Sunday night) and he only leaves 2 retired horses and a mini at home

  • Re: Okay... What do you think?

If your not doing an actual "Sliding" stop which would be sliding to a stop for a few feet, then you should be fine. It doesn't sound like what your doing is demanding in any way for a horse so I think your horse will be fine. Ask your shoer or vet. good luck.

  • Re: Colt starting Question

Repitition, Repitition, Repitition!!! Your filly sounds like she's used to being tip-toed around. When working with her act as if your working with a normal horse. don't be quiet and gentle or you'll have a horse that is easily startled. Do everything you can think of to make your horse as bombproof and patient as you can. I have had my three year old paint colt since he was seven months old. I can tell him to stand at a certain spot and walk away and he will stand there and let me rope his head

  • HELP!! Need some ideas on what to supplement a horse that ties up!

I have a coming 3 year old that tied up for the first time two weeks ago, and you know what this means, now he's prone to tying up It stinks in my opinion but I absolutely love this horse so I am willing to put out the money and supplement him with whatever he needs. So, any ideas on supplements or certain vitamins I should give him? I have heard that Vitamin E and Selenium are a good choice. What do you think? Also, include brands as well. Thanks

  • Re: Anyone wanna talk me out of this??

13 is definately not too old!!! I have a 15 year old rodeo horse (qh mare) that I am still running barrels on! She wins everything, I have people in line to buy her. She also has pretty bad arthritis but I keep her rode and stretched and she is on Corta Flex joing supplements. If you keep him on the right supplements and you ride him daily to keep him fit he will be perfectly fine. If you are comfortable on him and you make a good team, in dressage obviously horse and rider need to look like "one

  • Re: Frustrated with trainer and upcoming show

I would definately listen to what your trainer has to say. If your horse seems to not like the feel of a bit in his mouth than switch. But, if your horse is happy and goes well with the snaffle then i say leave him in it but he is your horse so, if you want him in a bosal you tell your trainer to put him in a bosal, if she doesn't do as you say than I would talk to her about the problem you are having with her. Deal with stuff to her face, don't keep it all pinned up inside you! Good luck.

  • Re: What should I do with my horse while I'm pregnant?

I wouldn't lease her out to anybody unless you know them. Too much liability and you could end up with an unsound or unhealthy horse. I think you would be best off to sell her. Congrats on the baby by the way! That's exciting.
