  • Re: Party Day

Good luck on the HT Solo, and you've already got your feet wet, lol! Blue, I'm feeling for you over the Great Dane, such magnificent dogs with such short life spans. 7-glad to hear your dd is being so practical about her christmas present, a true horse girl. I hope she gets one! OK, Official announcement: Bunny leaves tomorrow AM, and "ahem", we have already filled her place... dd got herself another Arab, this one is a Country English Pleasure horse, high-stepping and full of energy

  • Re: blind mare

OK guys, no reason to attack CH for asking a question! She is obviously trying to think this through and just asked opinions. And she's obviously a responsible horse owner who takes their care seriously. FH is on target with the question about what makes this mare so special you want to breed again. That's the first question to answer, then what kind of physical and psychological burden this would put on the mare. Older mares can be bred and carry just fine but usually only if they are bred

  • Re: Party Day

I won't argue the luck thing with finding my horses homes, but then again, I have been trying for a few years! Patience, my dear, patience. And get the word out there. OK, regarding the weird rig on the new horse "Cha Cha". FH is right about the split reins running from the dee rings through the snaffle, they are also run through rings on the martingale. dd said the touch on the rein is very light though, so I assume it has to do with training the horse into the headset. I know nothing

Poor Squeak! I hope you feel better soon. Here are the promised pics of me and "Cookie". Oh, and the poor guy has embroidered blankets, halter, etc. with both his registered name and Cookie allover it....sigh.

  • Re: Lame, grrr....

Whew, crazy week here trying to catch up. I had SOOO much fun last weekend! The resort we stayed at was marvelous, ahhhh, I could live there. And I got a lot of riding in everyday. I think we made some progress but there is much more to do. I will post some pics.... Meanwhile, I am heading down tomorrow to ride him again, this time DD is going with me. And BIG NEWS! Bunny is moving to Colorado. A very experienced horsewoman and breeder is going to take her. She has seen Bunny at her worst and thinks

  • Re: Granny arrives...

Glad you got a good granny, rr! No doubt she will adopt you and your family and William will have a built in babysitter, not too bad. I have been busy getting new laminate floors in. We opted for these because of the dogs and all the farm dirt. I got samples of real wood and the laminate and beat on them with a hammer and screwdriver, etc. to see which one held up the best, the laminate won. Finally got it all in and trimmed and repainted the walls. My house is looking so much better! Hosted the

  • Re: BAD BAD Blue (the horse)

Hmmm, someone needs to rethink that book There Are No Problem Horses, Only Problem Riders. Speaking from experience as I have one bad one in my barn. Ouch, I can feel your pain rr and SH. I have had both those things happen to me in the past. Bunny hasn't hurt me yet, but now she has taken to rearing when she's being led... I will definitely take pics of the new boy for ya'll.. Still working on a new barn name. Here is my list so far: Diesel (my fav) Wheeler Gamer Smiley (DDs fav) dd

  • Re: Joined the ranks

Hello gang! Good to see 7 and Blue and Sp back. rr, I do hope your new grandmother can cook, she may be making you all kinds of treats. Unless she turns out to be the evil Baba Yaga type... SS I am so sorry you lost your job, but I bet you felt better after your ride. IMHO they lost a good one, so chin up, someone more deserving will get the pleasure of your skills and dedication! OK, the deal is done! I officially have a new horse! I did opt to have the vet check, mainly because he had been campaigned

  • Re: Fingers crossed

Hey, it will be a whole family of Arabs, a sisterhood of Polish Arabians! And yes, RC made the deal. We are supposed to finalize paperwork and payment on Monday. I think I will have him vet checked though just to be safe. I'm curious what you all think of vet checks and their necessity? I am kind of divided. The vets I have talked to do them, but don't think they are very useful unless something is overtly obvious. So, looks like I will have a great visitors horse, come on out Sp!
