  • Re: Friesian dressage horses

Friesians make excellent dressage horses. That's what they are used for mostly nowadays.

  • Anyone Remember Me?

I don't know if any of you remember me or not, hehe. I decided to come back and see how everyone was doing. My name is Amber, I'm 16, and I have a 6 yr old ex-race TB gelding named Lukey D. I was finally able to move Luke to a new barn in early spring, and he is gaining weight and getting more orange speckles. We have shown in two shows and have two more this month. We've also rode in our town's Memorial Day Parade. He loves going for a good canter on the trails and especially loves

  • Opinions on This Blanket.

I'm poor, and Luke needs something to keep him warm and dry. He already has a nice and fluffy winter coat but it still gets soaked and makes him wet and cold. Would this be a good option? And will the felt rub him bad enough to make him lose hair on his shoulders/neck, etc.? I cannot afford a nicer one, since i'm a 16 year old who cannot find a job anywhere. Thanks guys! • Re: Critique Our Little Jump

Yeah, I didn't realize I couldn't jump him in it, but now that I think about it, I feel bad for jumping him in one. So i'll def. take it off next time. I use it usually so he doesn't throw his head up high.

  • Re: Bucking. . .

I agree, my horse used to buck horribly (and I would fall off and get injured). I did not enjoy one minute of being on him. In fact, I got so afraid of his bucking that I stopped riding and only longed him for about 3 months. After his horrible bucking phase was over, we've built back our trust. But I bet you can find another free lease horse that is buck free and fun to ride. If you do decide to lease him regardless, make sure to keep his head up. It's also harder for them to buck in the

  • Re: Critique Our Little Jump

What do you mean by set him up? We've never really jumped before. All I did was pointed him towards the jump. He actually felt like he wasn't going to jump but I put more leg on him and he decided to jump for me. We aren't experts at jumping, this was just a little fun night. I apperciate your help, but I don't really know anything about jumping so some of your terms confuse me.
