Well we finally figured out why my new mare is scratching her mane and tail off. She has mites, about 3 other horses at our barn have them. It is very unfortunate. But i've been looking online to see how i can treat it. She has been getting betadine scrubs and she has been getting a lot of MTG on her mane and tail and it seems to stop the itching, but i would like to have a permanent solution. Do you guys have any suggestions? The trouble things is, that i dont know if she came with it, or if

She is a sweety and doesn't really seem like a mare:) She was used for trail riding at this place that never realized her potential. They also did their own trimming of their horses feed, hence the long toes. the first 2 pics is when we were trying her out and looked at her. since then she has recieved a trimming as well as gotten shoes on the front. My farrier wasn't happy with her feet maintenance, but he did a remarkable job! he's been my farrier for 6 years and he has been doing a

she does wear a fly sheet, but she gets it all over anyway...her face, mane, tai, legs you name it. I'm still in the process of finding her a fly mask that fits, since she has a massive head. she is one big Holsteiner mare:) I will have to try the WD40 on a spot and see how it does and how she reacts to it. she is pretty tough skinned, but i'd rather be safe than sorry. thanks for the tipps! i'll let you know how it works out.

Hi everyone, I'm having a little issue with my mare. The place where I board, has pine trees all around in the pens and such. Now my gelding is very smart in that way and won't stand underneath them or anything, but it is a different story with my mare. She stands under the trees, also she is almost 16'2, and gets sap all over her face, mane, forelock and neck and body. Sometimes I catch it early enough and sometimes its just to late and she has it dried all over her and covered in dust

Okay, so after we recieved the Blood results, it turned out Nicky has an allergy to glover and alfalfa and was poisoned by it. anyway ever since the eand the turn over to the grass hay, pure timothy and orchard, nicky has recovered. and holly cow is he in an amazing mood. he also isn't sore anymore on the front. he is actually quite cocky now when i try to catch him, but he still lets me. so overall he is i'd say 120% and way more energetic than he ever was before. he had always been kind
