  • Re: Please Critique!

drop your weight into your heel. That doesnt mean jam your heel down, but in the pic o you posting, you are posting off your stirrup. Letting your weight fall through your heel will make you post with your weight there not in your stirrup. Also, dressage is NOT about head sets, It is about making the back round and have the hrose stepping through. Put leg on and ask her to flex through her poll. This way the hind leg will keep coming and she will start to round her back.

  • Re: Need Ideas For Tightening Up Front End Over Jumps

I would raise the jumps to 2'6", most horses wont even make a true jump effort at 2'. Then gymnastics, gymnastics, gymnastics. Make him think about where he needs to put his feet. Also parallels will make him pick up his feet and use himself better over fences.

  • Re: He's Losing Weight- Suggesstions Needed PLEASE! *PICTURES*

if hes only getting 5lbs of feed (or 10lbs if thats twice a day), for a big wb like him, most barns around here feed anywhere from 15lbs-35lbs of feed. Yes it is a complete feed but they get hay as well. I would definatly try stablized rice bran (regular rice bran spoils quickly), some kind of oil (veggie, corn, olive, etc.). What type of hay is it (orchard, alfalfa, oat?). That can make a huge diffrence. How much does he eat a day? A sweet feed such as omelene would help in the energy department

  • Western States Horse Expo??

Anyone going? I have been going for the last 5 years, and noticed it has been getting smaller and smaller (starting in 2006). This year I dont even think it has the Sat. Night Showcase. Which isnt a horrible thing, 2006 sucked and 2007 was only a littler better since Steffen Peters rode (even so only for about 5-10mins saying 'this is an extended trot' etc.). Anyone else noticed its been getting smaller/not as good?

  • Re: Looking, again.

Can you say SHORT backed?? His neck looks a little short and thick, thesearent confo things but it will back a diffrence to how comfortable he rides. His pasterns look normal. He doesnt have the best looking loin, again just things that will make a diffrence when hes under saddle. Do you have pics of the sire and dam? that will give you a better idea of what he will look like when he grows up.

  • Re: Adjustable Gullets

I tried the wintecs and bates. My friend has a collegiate that we tried on a bunch of horses, and someone just tried the new pessoas. We might just have super difficult horses to fit, but the balance of the saddle was always off.
