(2) I have both wool and fleece and honestly I use the wool one a lot more. It just works better and being a natural fiber, is still warm when wet. And it's easy to clean, just pop it in the washer, then line dry.
Solo - I've always heard wool was better. I know you would wash a wool cooler with cold water, like any other wool item, but have you ever experienced any shrinkage after it's dried? I'm thinking of buying a cooler this year, too

Up until I had my riding accident in April '08 which shattered my left knee, I never had knee pain. Now, I get some post-riding pain in the left knee on occasion. I have not yet experienced post-riding pain in my right knee yet but at the age of 51, I expect it any day!

Congrats!! It sounds like you'll be very happy there! It's sooo important that the BO is easy to get along with! I must admit that I an extreeemely jealous of the pasture, the lighted arena, no rocks and no mud!! Enjoy!

Thanks, Everyone! I'm settling in here well. This company needs a bit more organization, so trying to learn certain proceedures, like the paperwork flow for example, is a challenge. I literally learn something new every day!

I've read that horses who live in the southwest part of the country (desert areas) don't need to be floated as often due to the grit they chew when grazing and when eating hay which is harvested in the southwest. (This also explains why sand colic seems more prevalant in the SW) Seems the grit/sand acts like a file on their teeth and keeps them a bit smoother than horses kept elsewhere/in stalls. Both of our horses had their teeth floated in late '05. They didnt need to be done again
Oh, and my 12yr old Border Collie's (with pemphigus that the vets said wouldn't live past 4 or 5) arthritis in his front leg is getting bad enough without constant pain meds he can barely walk. I am terrifed, I have had that puppy since he was 10 weeks old and I was 8 yrs. I don't know what I would do without him. He taught my other dogs everything they know.
Crittergirl, I saw on RFT-TV something called Cetyl-M and they showed a dog that couldn't

OMG!! That's hilarious!! Scout's weiner is all pink and it gets the scuz that dries and flakes off in BIG flakes. I usually just pull off the loose ones til he goes "up periscope"! I didn't know Excaliber could burn. Scratch that off the tack shop shopping list. I'll try Ky or mineral oil.

I previously posted that on July 16th I was laid off. I have been at my new job for 2 weeks now! Hopefully I'll be able to be on the forum more often, now that I have high speed internet access again! Woo hoo! My mortgage is finally getting modified to an amount we can afford, so it looks like Brass Ring Ranch will survive!

My new job is in commercial printing like the last one. The plan is that I will eventually run the printing division of the company. We also do DVD manufacturing but someone else runs that division. It's more responsibility than my last job and hopefully the potential to make more money, but that will be down the road. I'm also helping implement some things which will hopefully make us operate for efficiently. It's all about the bottome line these days.
