  • Re: Equine College/Univerity Courses

VermontTech has an awesome looking course. I haven't actually taken their program, but I'm applying very soon. William Woods University (in Missouri)has a fantastic program, with lots of showing and riding experience. Hocking College (in Ohio) has a natural therapies program. There are quite a few out there. Good luck searching!

  • Re: Choked horse - your experiences?

My Standardbred has choked three times in less than a year. His teeth are really worn down, so it's hard for him to chew his grain properly. He is now on a hay stretcher, Safechoice, and beet pulp (only in winter) diet. His food is soaked for every feeding, and so far he hasn't choked again. I just started having his grain soaked this past weekend, so he's still in the trial stage, but so far so good. The last time my guy choked, the vet tried to put the tube in four times before she

  • Re: To mention the unmentionables....

My name is Rebekah and I adore my zip tall boots. I started out with just pull-ons but I grew,, my calkves grew, and things just didn't work out. (losing circulation is never a good thing ) I usually just ride in jeans and half chaps, but have to wear "proper" riding clothes for dressage lessons. I just inherited a pair of Ariat riding pants and I am in love with them! They aren't spandexy and they don't show a VPL! I I also don't mind TuffRider jods. As for the unmentionables

  • Re: Any college suggestions?

Is UVM the same as VermontTech? VermontTech has a fantastic mixture of equine and agricultural classes. This is part of what really attracted me to this college. Here is the website with the list of classes for the four years: http://www.vtc.edu/catalog/academic-programs/curriculums/equine-studies.html . The woman I talked to seemed really excited that I was interested in the program and I am hoping to check out the place some time this spring. I can't wait! I am getting really excited about

  • Re: Any college suggestions?

My riding teacher went to WWU. I would love to go there, but it is rather expensive and it is kinda far away. (I'm from Maine too!) UNH does have a great program, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for. I would love to be that close to home, though! Thanks for the help!

  • Re: Parelli horsemanship.. what do you think about it?

I have a lot of respect for Parelli. I use it with my horses and I have seen a lot of improvement in their behavior and disposition. All of the natural horsemanship people are pretty much the same thing. They call it a different thing and sell it their own way. I find Clinton Anderson to be a big show off who is only in it for the money and fame. I really liked Chris Cox when I recently saw him at Equine Affaire. Stacy Westfall can speak for herself!! She has done some amazing things with her horses

  • Re: you'll probably think I'm crazy

I am still kind of up in the air on this one. I've heard some really good things about horse communicators, but I tend to be the kind of person who believes it when I see it. My good friend has a natural therapy business and she uses Reiki, muscle testing, acupressure, etc. I have seen some amazing things happen to horses. Two of the women who I ride with almost got shot one day. They were cantering up a hill and when they crested it, a hunter had his gun ready to shoot. It scared the daylights

  • Re: Any college suggestions?

OK, so at Equine Affaire I found an amazing sounding college, VermontTech. It has great sounding Equine Studies program, but it is fairly new. Has anyone heard of it before? Please check it out and tell me what you think. Thanks for all of the great advice!!

  • Re: Equine Affaire

Equine Affaire was amazing, as usual. I shopped a lot and purchased some great things. The Pfizer was still good, but doesn't seem as entertaining as it was a couple of years ago. Maybe it's just me. Chris Cox was awesome, I really enjoyed the clinic that I saw. I also saw an interesting Western pleasure clinic earlier today. I had a great time overall and I can't wait for next year!!! Oh, and the hotel we stayed at was SO nice. I loved their pillows.

  • Re: Before/After Arizen Conformation Critique

Wow, what a difference! She has filled out and gained muscle in all of the right places. Her coat is shiny and looks soft. Her eye has a sparkle to it and her expressions shows how much of an interest she has in life. She clearly loves you!!
