I also know somebody who bet on Mine that Bird. She bet on him just because he is a NM horse
That's exactly why I was thinking about betting on him (and am kicking myself for not) - my best friend is a jockey's agent and I have visited her many times during Ruidiso's meet. Oh well, you know what they say about hind site. . .
I was kicking myself also. I should have put at least a buck or two.

I ride both dressage and jumping, and love it. The more I ride dressage, the better my jumping courses are. I can be riding dressage and not jumping at all for a month or two (a lot of times morse, because I get many jumpers in training) and when I do have to jump, I still jump very comfortably 4ft (my highest so far). Someday, I am hoping to compete at both Grand Prix Jumping and Dressage :)

What my trainer has taught me was to prepare the horse BEFORE you get to a sppoky corner or part of the arena. She always told me to have halt right before I get to the spooky part, so that I am releasing him when I am going by the sppokiness. This way not only it will keep his mind busy, it will also relax him. You don't want them thinking "Oh, no this is the scarry corner where there are monsters and work!!!!!" Repeating it will probably be a good idea. Whenever I go trail riding
Haven't seen one like that before. It certainly is a running martingale type attachment. Wondering if it's more of a Western or endurance model?
I think it is western. I bought a bucnch of tack in bulk, and the actuall "tack" part of it was western. Western saddle pads, breast plates.........now have to see have of it (did end up keeping a lot of it though) Anywayz, I have never seen one like that either (I'm from the English riding

Hey.......I used to do that.....muck stalls and stuff. I still wouldn't mind doing that, at least not until I get enough horses into training. I am in college, so can't start my own operation at home (unless they start allowing horses in Apartments LOL :) ) Anyways, my suggestion would be to go out to stables in person and talk to them. That is how I got my jobs, now I have a website for training horses. Good Luck
Ohh yeah I know somebody who bet on Mine that Bird for the kentucky derby and we were making fun of him cuz he was so far behind and then we just see this red streak comin up from behind!! it was absolutely amazing!! I'm not sure if you look at the past 2 horses who have won the kentucky derby exactly like Mine that Bird did, well they both went down hill and fastttt!! not trying to be a party pooper lol I mean I really hope that Mine that Bird winss but it's

I think it is possible. He looked good (physically) coming in the race, he just didn't look so good on papers. I bet on Pioneer of the nile, should have done win-place. I don't know about General Quarters. I like the story, and it would be nice if he wins Preakness, but I don't like the looks of him. (I spent some time working with a vet, so I learned to pick up on suttle soreness signs) Rachel Alexandra is a good contender also.

First off thanks for the resposes I really appreciate all of them. I talked to the owner (I am the trainer) and this is what she said: "It started out as a small 'kernal' on the side of his pastern.... even though that area was always clean and dry- we have had very little moisture! The 'kernal' sort of evolved and basically multiplied right before my eyes over the weeks until it 'peaked' into that grape-cluster looking thing."

I agree with everyone, not a stupid question, everybody has to start somewhere. My boyfriend loves horses, he has loved them all his life, never ridden them though, and he asks me questions like that all the time. Hey, you can't learn, unless you ask. Right? Anywayz. I am pretty sure what I have is a running martingale attachment.....but it just looks weired to.........
