Hi Anna, They look like they're doing well. All the things you are doing will make them responsive to so much more. Saphire looks like she's really coming along !! Just wonderful !! Sonora looks great too. Great pics. Take Care...

Hi Anna, Good to hear he's doing well. The heat here had been very bad too, but it's cooled off and given us a little break the last couple of days. Thank Goodness as it was taking it's toll on us too. It wouldn't have been so bad if the humidity hadn't been so high. Hope everything else is going well for you too. Take Care...

Hi There, Check the bedding. It might be worth their while to remove the bedding from his stall. It's inconvenient if there isn't a stall liner, but you may find he's allergic to the shavings/straw. It may take up to a week for it to calm down once the allergen is removed. I have seen horses have a reaction like this to bites from ants and fleas in that part of the country. Another poster brought up wasps which is also a very good point. When they roll, they tend to have a "spot"

Hi There, I'm sure I'll get some argument here, but... It's not crazy. I would ask how the founder was treated. How the hooves were rehabbed is important. Was there any rotation? Is the horse in shoes now? How high is the heel? Is the horse on preventative like Remission? I have a mare here that came to me totally lame, rotated, and pretty messed up. She is now sound and is ridden barefoot daily. It takes about a year for the hoof to renew and the position of the bone to become parallel

Hi There, Remmer has a very good point. We used to have a character on the endurance circuit that used to do the same thing at spot checks. Everything would be fine and when the vet would do the check, everyone gets quiet and still while the vet is listening so the horse would get quiet and listen too. While he was "listening" for what everyone else was listening to, he would hold his breath till they were done. It cost a bunch of points in the beginning, but turned out to be quite humorous

Hi There, Too much of anything they're not used to can lead to discomfort. The questions you need to ask yourself are. How high a protein hay compared to how high a protein diet she's used to. Is she founder prone? Is she stalled or turned out daily? What's her normal water intake? Is she passing manure? Is she willing to eat? She should pass a pile every 45 minutes at least. Do you know what her belly should sound like? Is her belly making normal gut sounds? Free movement/walking is

I don't have any problems with my horse that sweats when I hook up the trailer. He loves to go and compete. He hasn't taken to retirement very well. Occasionally I'll do an exhibition with him, but that's about it. Unconditioned at 22 he still pulls a 17 sec pattern and I don't have any issues with him. I do believe if you quit reading between the lines and just read what's there you will find that there are people on here who have loads of experience in all matters of the
