  • What breed gaited horse do you ride?

I'm a member of the 50 plus gang (and then some!) and I've been thinking lately that a gaited horse might be in my future. SOOOOOO I was curious about the breeds that forum members ride. I looked a ways back and didn't find this topic. I hope I'm not repeating a previous thread. Feel...

  • New to gaited horses...

As you may have read in some of my other posts. I am new to the idea of gaited hores. I say that because I've had my Standardbred for about 8 years now, but I've never done anything but w/t/c (with a little bit of odd gaits thrown in there when we were confused). After reading an article in Horse...

  • Need cues for gaited horses

There's this lady at my barn who has just bought a Tennessee Walker. He is the sweetest horse and wouldn't hurt a fly. Here's my problem. She wants me to help her out by riding him during the week when she's not there, but she's very new to the world of horses, and doesn't know...

  • Re: What type of bit should I switch to?

blueyedhorse...I wanted to comment on you saying that you can't register Vannah... You don't have to have her registered to show in most local fun shows. You might give that a try. I was a life-long trail rider, and just started showing a little over a year ago. I enjoy it because it really makes...

  • Standardbred

I have a 6 year old gelding that I just found out is actually a standardbred. He has a slow walk, 3 different sppeds of a racking gait and then a lope type of gait. I am new to the "gaited" horse and was wondering if anyone can give me any information about this breed. He has been trained to...

  • critique my SB

I have never had a SB before and knew nothing about them when I got him. I have had him for a little more than a year. He hadn't been ridden in 5 years until I got him and I ride 3 to 4 times a week. We are now working on the canter. I would like to know what you gaited people think of him. I have...

  • Re: Trail riding with a Walker

Hello! Welcome to the gaited world! It's a great place to be. I'd really suggest you try out different gaited breeds because they all feel different! I've ridden many walking horses... some are comfortable, some are not. I personally have a walker, a Peruvian, and a saddlebred. I love all...
